Introduction Hospitality and Tourism Management is as old as

civilization. Traders, hunters and others needed a place to rest and at the same time rest the horses. As the 19th century emerged, hotels were built, travel was marketed and transportation systems emerged. Today, the hospitality and tourism management is one of the largest industries in the world! There are many opportunities for persons who are interested in “serving” and “being of service,” to exceed guests expectations.

What were the historical developments of hospitality and tourism management? What are the major components of hospitality and tourism management? What are some of the national organizations/groups related to Hospitality and Tourism?
