About ABSIA Formed in November 2014 in response to a move by Government to change the way it
consulted with Industry – associations and intermediaries, rather than individual businesses
Some industry companies provided seed funding to establish ABSIA, subsequently repaid
The Australian Taxation Office sponsored, supported and partnered with ABSIA to progress our mutual outcomes
ABSIA is a not-for-profit company, with a volunteer board of directors and one part time administrative staff
Membership has grown: initially 15 to now more than 55
Big initiatives have provided ABSIA with the opportunity to show our benefit: both to our government partners and to our members
Industry had never before put aside its commercial competition to work collaboratively toward a common goal: our members have reaped the benefits

Payroll Achievements 2016/2017Single Touch Payroll Represent members who do not have time,
scope or capacity to represent wider industry interests at the numerous engagements with ATO
On the STP Advisory Group – providing industry perspective, experience and guidance
Working collaboratively with ATO to shape the requirements of STP from the software and employer perspective
Providing extensive feedback and input into design outcomes: business and technical
Supporting ATO to prepare stakeholders for transition to STP
Collaborating on support for digital service providers to understand the requirements of STP
Participating in numerous working groups, focus groups and micro focus groups with ATO
Senate Economics References Committee –Non-Payment of Superannuation Guarantee
Requested to present to the Senators on the vital role that software plays in compliance
ABSIA and ADP presented the collective view of industry on the complexity of superannuation and how this may be eased to lift the burden of compliance by business
Final report by the committee included references to our submissions and advice on simplifying superannuation
Members closer engagement with initiatives of government to explore options that would impact payroll software

Providing input into digital transformation agenda
Quarterly catch up for members with DTA, PM&C and DIIA, amongst others to discuss upcoming agendas, status of key initiatives
Operational Framework
Collaborating with ATO and the Digital Business Council to address a range of fundamental digital issues that underpin all programs of work for digital service providers
Engaging members to ascertain their perspectives and concerns
Strategic Working Group
Co-chair of this group, helping ATO to set the direction for digital services and ensuring industry is kept informed of important initiatives and developments
Significant member representation on the working group
Partnership Matters
Collaborating with ATO on how best to engage with industry to achieve successful outcomes in the shortest timeframe
Supporting ATO with its Reinventing ATO blueprint initiative

Product Catalogue ATO used to maintain a
Product Register, to enable software to list functionality, to enable businesses to find software that delivered specific ATO services
ATO provided funding to create the ABSIA Product Catalogue that replaces a number of product registers run by the Government
The Product Catalogue is now fully functional and has 64 registered products and growing
