Introduction to eLearning for Instructors CSP eLearning has been implemented in order to enable students to complete a significant amount of the lecture style learning remotely, in the comfort of their own home or local library, etc. This also ensures that more focus is put on practical learning and moves away from lecture and PowerPoint classroom learning. The self-guided modular learning is thorough and easy to follow. Students will make their way through the curriculum working with the in-class schedule, prepping for each class with a quiz at the end of each section.

The eLearning portion of the CSP coursework has been developed in order to ensure that more emphasis is placed on practical study within the classroom. Once students are registered for an advanced first-aid or a refresher course, they will receive an email inviting them to log into the eLearning system similar to the email received by the instructor. The link to the eLearning site is http://edu3.cspsopcs.com/login/

To test this out, please send them a quick message prior to the start of the course asking them to go through the required eSession(s) along with the quiz(zes). Please also let them know that we are able to track the time they spend in the session, so no cheating and fast forwarding.

News Forum

The forum may be used to communicate within the confines of the course specific news and updates.

Managing Student Activity - Reports & Activity Tracking

Quick Student or Instructor Access Report

To look at your students or instructors activities, click on the specific course under Current Course and then click on Participants.

9

Looking at the right hand column, you will be able to see if they have logged in.

Individual Student Progress Reports – Activity Reports

In the lower left hand corner, you will see a box called Administration. This is where you can go to take a look at individual student progress through reports.

Click on the student you would like to look at, and their name will appear in the Administration navigation menu. Under Profile settings for “student name”, you may choose Activity reports. This will give you the option to look at reports on the specific student. These reports include:

- Today’s logs - All logs - Outline report - Statistics

Another way to look at the activity of an individual student is to click on Reports, then Logs.

If you are registered in multiple courses you are able to use the Log report to select the specific course, select a specific Student, and then select a specific activity to find their progress.

10

Click on Participants under the current course, click on a student’s name, and then go down to the Administration box, and select Activity Reports. There you can choose to look at that student’s specific activity.

Example of Activity Report

Activities  Completed  -‐  “Complete  Report”  for  a  Specific  Student

11

Click on specific student, select Activity Reports from the Administration menu on the lower left hand side of the page, and then select Complete Report.

Activities  Completed  -‐  “Outline  Report”  for  a  Specific  Student

Click on specific student, select Activity Reports from the Administration menu on the lower left hand side of the page, and then select Outline Report.

12

Activities Completed & Tracking Quiz Completion

Reports through the Grades Administration section allow instructors to quickly see their students’ progress through the quizzes.

Grader Report

A very important report in Grade Administration is the Grader Report. To view the Grader Report, click on Grades in the Administration Navigation box at the bottom of the page.

Clicking on Grades will bring you directly to the Grader Report. This report will help you track the progress of students through their quiz attempts.

Logs Under the Reports menu, the Logs report tab will enable you to sort through activities completed by participants. The Logs reports offer the following query options:

Course, Participant, Date, Activity, Action, can be customized to look at specific course, participant, and day. Logs may be used prior to classes to view group activities or the activities of a specific student. Once you have made your selections, click on the Get these logs button.

13

Note: The report query selections Participant and Activities are among the most useful, as they result in important insights into student activity.

Accesing the eLearning on your Mobile Device

Although the eLearning site does not have a mobile application, you will still be able to access your courses through your mobile devices internet browser.

Log in as you normally would at: http://edu3.cspsopcs.com/login/

Useful reports on the Road

The reports that are the most useful on the road include Activity reports for a specific student.

Student Activity Outline Report

In the Navigation menu click on the student from Participants. Scroll down to the Administration menu and click on Profile Settings for “Student Name”. Select Activity Reports from the Profile Settings menu. Select Outline Report. This will give you a quick overview of everything the student has completed.

Quiz Completion (All Students)- Grader Report

Students are required to complete all modules in an eSession prior to attempting a quiz. This makes the Grader report very useful in tracking course completion. The Grader report shows all of the student’s best attempt at all the quizzes.

14

Quiz Completion – Individual Student

To look at the quiz activity of an individual student, Select User report under the under the Grade Administration menu.

Search

In order to search for a student, you must first select the course that they are registered in.

From the course select Participants. The search is set up to enable you to search by the first letter of the student’s first name, the first letter of the last name, or both.

You will be able to switch to other courses within the main navigation page along with being able to choose the type of participant, the type of list, and the participant’s role.

NOTE: You will need to reset “All” to begin a new search or you will be refining the search based on your first letter choice.

15

The “Type” of user list in the upper right hand corner drops down a menu that enables you to create a detailed list or a brief list.

The other option to search for a specific student is down at the bottom left side. This search option enables you to search for CSP numbers, partial or full first and last names, along with partial or full email addresses.

Printing reports

The most useful report to print is the Grader Report which show quiz completion. Quizzes can only be attempted once all of the eSessions modules have been completed. For this reason, the Grade Report would be the best to print prior to a class or course.

To run the grade report, scroll down to the Administration menu. From the Administration menu, click on Grade Administration, and then click on Grader report.

Your report will appear in the main screen. At the top of the screen you will find a drop down menu that currently reads

16

“Grader report”. Click on the menu to drop down options. Scroll to the lower options and select Excel Spreadsheet.

You are then asked to select the quizzes you would like to include in the report. Select or deselect them in the box to the right of the quiz. By default all are selected.

At the bottom of the screen, select Download.

Your report will be sent to your computers Download file as an Excel file.

Tips & Tricks to Verify Student Activity

Verifying Student Access

A quick way to find out who has logged on and when their last access was is the Participants option. Click on your preferred course in the Navigation menu in the upper left hand side of the screen, and then select Participants.

Confirming Modules are Being Viewed

A student may be fast-forwarding through the modules in order to skip through them fast and open up the quiz at the end. Using the Logs report will help you spot the students that are trying to cheat the system.

Scroll down to the Administration menu on the left hand side of the screen , click on Reports, and select Logs.

17

This will give you a number of options at the top of the main screen. Select your course, keep the default for All participants unless you are looking at a specific student, keep the default of All activities unless you are suspicious about a particular module. Click Get these logs as seen above.

You can now scan through the report and pick out students that spent less than a minute in a module. As you can see below, Eric spent approximately 2 minutes watching the History and Organization of CSP module, and briefly looked at the Course Expectations Module. This is not enough time for him to have completed this module.
