WHO IS LATI?

LATI was created in Italy in 1945.

From the year of foundation untill today, Lati has gained an absolutely prestigious position in the production of technical thermoplastic compounds.

Nowadays Lati is:

•the compounder with the largest range of technical thermoplastics in Europe;

•oneofthemostqualifiedself-extinguishing compounds suppliers in the world;

•the most important independent European produceroffit-for-usethermoplastic compounds for special applications.

The company has two plants in the North of Italy with a potential capacity of 38,000 tonnes per year.

LATI’s products are suitable for use in several industrial segments, from the automotive to fine mechanics, fromdomestic appliances to electronics.

The distribution of materials is guaranteed by its own export network.

The mission of LATI is to guarantee complete satisfaction to the customer thanks to the high technical contents of its own products and services, keepingmaximumflexibilitytowards market requirements with a constant quality level.

* Values obtained according to ISO norm at the specified pressure. Actual shrinkage values may differ because of the design.Values shown are based on testing of injection moulded laboratory test specimens, conditioned according to the practice and represent data that fall within the standard range of properties for non-coloured material, if not otherwise specified. As they may be subject to variations, these values do not represent a sufficient basis for any part design and are not intended for use in establishing values for specification purposes. Properties of moulded parts can be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, colorants, part design, processing conditions, post-treatment conditions, environmental conditions and usage of regrind during the moulding process. If data are explicitely indicated as provisional, range of properties has to be considered wider. LATI has been developing high technology compounds during the last 25 years.

Metal substitution, new polymers and formulations, advanced projects and engineering requirements: this huge amount of topics must be supported by an adequate know-how in order to help our Customers to implement our grades in new products.

Today LATI can offer to its Customers a fully structured service including engineering, simulation, co-design and tailor made technical courses.

Fluid-dynamical simulations: rheological description of LATI compounds are used to

evaluate the moulding process into details, predictingfillingand deformation issues.

Skilled engineers will consequently suggest mould modifications,

tips to stiffen the geometry of parts, correct moulding parameters and so on.

The whole activity is performed by using the most updated and advanced computer technology available today.

Fiber orientation prediction, cooling channel design, mould layout: every aspect of the moulding process is kept under strict control by LATI co-design engineers.

Stress analysis: metal replacement can be suitablewithoutproblemsbyrelyingonfiniteelement simulation, evaluating how plastic parts can withstand applied loads and deformations.

Also in this case a full mechanical description is achieved by LATI laboratories and then forwarded to stress analysis stations for calculation.

FEA can take into consideration any aspect

related to project requirements: temperature, environmental conditions, contact with other bodies, creep and fatigue.

The best numerical methods available on the marketused by highly skilled engineers graduated in polymer technology.

Thermal analysis: it’s the most recent development in FE simulation on polymers. Thermally conductive polymers can now be evaluated before proceeding with their implementation in new high end applications.

By means of finiteelementthermal analysis, LATI can provide a strong support in calculating, e.g., working temperature of heat sinks and coolers for electronic industry in order to promote metal to plastic substitution.

A real asset to polymer compound development.

Technical training courses: polymer specialists and Customers must share their own knowledge to be very proactive in proposing to the market new compounds and new applications.

LATI can provide in-house and on-site complete technical courses for engineers, technologists and designers in order to create a strong partnership between Supplier and Producer.

Full courses on engineering, special compounds and designing with plastics will be performed by LATI specialists, combining passion for compounds with more than 60 years of experience.
