In which countries Spanish is spoken?

• More than 350.000.000 people speak Spanish in the world. It is spoken in Spain and also:

• In most of the Latin American countries – Mexico Cuba Dominican Republic – Puerto Rico Guatemala Honduras – Nicaragua El Salvador Costa Rica – Panama Ecuador Venezuela – Colombia Peru Bolivia – Paraguay Uruguay Argentina – Chile

• In many places in the United States • In the Philippines • In Equatorial Guinea• And also between the Sephardic Jewish (they lived in Spain for several

centuries until they were expelled from the country in 1492 by the Catholic Monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella).

The 4 languages

• The Spanish/Castellano is the official language in Spain but there are another 3 languages spoken in Spain:

• Euskera, spoken in the Basque Country.• Catalan, spoken in Cataluña. A very similar

dialect is spoken in Valencia and the Balearic Islands.

• Gallego, spoken in Galicia.
