Allaire Supplementary Application Materials D.O.B. 1/22/1993 1 The Blue and Gray Georgetown Prep Literary & Art Magazine I became involved in the school’s annual Literary and Art Magazine in my sophomore year as an Assistant Editor. In my junior year I became Co-Editor-In- Chief and I have continued in that role in my senior year. Although this magazine did not require a major renewal effort, most observers on campus believe that the quality of this publication has steadily increased during the past few years. During the past two years we have refined and streamlined the process to produce the publication, as follows: Solicitation of Submissions from Students -- As the fourth quarter of the school year begins, we ask students to submit poems, lyrics, prose pieces, essays, paintings, and photographs for review and consideration by the staff of the Blue and Gray. Solicitation of Submissions of Student Works by Faculty -- We also solicit teachers of senior poetry classes, AP Composition courses, digital photography and art studio courses to select and submit superior student produced works. Editorial Staff Deliberations -- The editorial staff discusses all submissions and decides of which pieces exemplify Georgetown Prep’s highest quality best literary and artistic achievements. The Blue and Gray

Georgetown Prep Literary & Art Magazine

I became involved in the school’s annual Literary and Art Magazine in my sophomore year as an Assistant Editor. In my junior year I became Co-Editor-In-Chief and I have continued in that role in my senior year. The theme which I created for the 2010 edition, “Mountains Grow Unnoticed”, was inspired by Emily Dickinson’s 757th poem and was intended to call to mind the creativity and artistic talent in students that might go unnoticed if not highlighted in books like the Blue and Gray.
