    Key Flexfield

KFF consist of multiple segments, thathave a value and meaning.

Are used by the applications asidentifiers and share common

information across applications. Are required by the application and

appear as a regular field withconcatenated values.

Oracle application has 22 Key Flexfieldsand Inventory has 6 Key Flexfields.

KFF are referred as an intelligent field. Define up to maximum of 30 segments

    Descriptive Flexfield

DFF is used to capture additionalinformation in generic fields.

DFF is represented by a two-characterunnamed field enclosed by brackets []

When Organizations must customize aform to capture additional informationon a row, or about a subject, first try touse a DFF.

An organization can customize DFF toinclude as many fields as needed.

DFF are widely used by Orgs andcontinue to be an excellent way toexpand the usability of OA.

Oracle Apps Manufacturing & DistributionSystem Item - KFF

Also called as Item Flexfield. Defines the structure of item/part number. Defines single/multi-segmented field and

    the length of segment.

Every Item defined requires this itemnumber, to transact and report item info.

Manufacturing enterprises widely use singlesegment for item number, as the capability

of OA to retrieve item information bynumber of different methods, including itemcatalog, part number, item cross reference, has reduced the requirement of multi-

    segment.
