RECENT INVESTMENTS IN THE AREA

OLD BUSHMILLS DISTILLERYOld Bushmills Distillery is not only a major employer and tourist attraction in the area but is recognised as a global brand for its Bushmills Irish Whiskey. Over the next 10 – 15 years, the company will invest approximately £3million of capital expenditure at the distillery each year, to build a total of 29 more warehouses, on 62 acres of agricultural land surrounding the existing site. This will double production capacity and allow the brand to expand into new markets. The investment also includes a new tourism and visitor centre.

NORTHERN REGIONAL COLLEGE (CAMPUSES IN BALLYMONEY & COLERAINE)

A £84 million capital investment* programme by Northern Regional College, will deliver a new state of the art campus on the current campus in Coleraine. The purchase of adjacent land will provide a larger site for the new facility in Coleraine town centre, which will also accommodate those students and courses presently being offered at the Ballymoney campus. Project to be complete by the summer of 2022. (* this includes the neighbouring Ballymena campus)

HOTEL DEVELOPMENTS There has been significant private investment in new hotel and apartment accommodation in the region over the last 5 years. There are currently plans in the pipeline for three new hotel developments in the Causeway Coast area, totalling approximately £93million.
