Credit Suisse is delighted to invite you to our Investment Forum to be held inLucerne on September 24–25, 2009.
It has been almost two years since the start of the credit crunch,a period in which we have seen unprecedented levels of marketvolatility, a sharp slowdown in global economic growth, record lowinterest rates and government support packages of unthinkablemagnitude. However, there finally appears to be light at the endof the tunnel, with recent economic data suggesting that we mayhave passed the worst.
“Phoenix” is the theme of this year’s Investment Forum, providingwhat we believe is a perfect and timely platform for investorsto appraise and discuss key investment opportunities for therest of 2009 and into 2010.The Forum will allow attendees tohear presentations from some of our longest-serving investment professionals, as well as some of our most recent additions.Throughout the two-day event, we will be providing a comfort-able environment to discuss views on markets and investmentopportunities through a series of structured sessions and a social program.
The formal sessions will be chaired by Robert Parker, Vice Chair-man of Credit Suisse’s Asset Management business. The Rt. Hon. Sir John Major KG CHFormer Prime Minister of Britain and currently a Senior Advisor to Credit Suisse

Sir John was appointed Prime Minister in November 1990, a position he held until May1997. In the General Election of April 1992, he led the Conservative Party to an unprecedented fourth term in office. He retiredfrom the House of Commons in May 2001.
In 1999, The Queen appointed him a Companion of Honour in recognition of his initiation of the Northern Ireland peace processand, in 2005, he was appointed a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.
Sir John has a number of business interests, including Senior Advisor to Credit Suisse. Other positions held include Chairman ofthe International Advisory Board of the National Bank of Kuwait, and Chairman of the European Advisory Council of Emerson ElectricCompany. Sir John is also actively involved in a number of charities.
“For years, the Western economies were the maypole around which the worlddanced: when they grew, the world did too. Over the last few years, that has beenchanging rapidly, and we are reverting to the position that existed several hundredyears ago. The majority of world growth now comes from the East and is likely tocontinue to do so in the foreseeable future. We may not be entirely accuratewhen we speak of ‘one world’; but we do have a truly global economy. This offersboth opportunities and risks that we have not seen before. If we are wise enough to avoid the pitfalls and focus on the opportunities, we will, hopefully, be able toaddress many of the problems around the world that once seemed insoluble.”

Sir Bob GeldofLeading Humanitarian and Pop Star
Sir Bob Geldof entered the music scene as a journalist before forming the band The Boomtown Rats, who had a series of hits, including two U.K. number one singles in the late 1970s. In 1984, he turned his attention to the dreadful famine that was plaguingEthiopia, and Sir Bob is probably best known for the Band Aid single/Live Aid concerts to raise money for and awareness of thesituation in Africa. In recognition of this work, he received a knighthood in 1986.
Sir Bob is also a highly successful and astute businessman, having helped set up and then sell Planet 24, a television productionhouse, and Deckchair.com, an online travel agency. More recently, he was involved in the Live 8 series of concerts, which took placein 2005. Sir Bob was recognized by Time Magazine as one of 2005’s European Heroes and in 2007 was a nominee for the NobelPeace Prize, his sixth such nomination. This follows the Nobel Man of Peace award that he received in 2005.
“The world’s economic system was always skewed and its rewards asymmetric. We built a global economy that excluded half of the globe. We marginalised the productive capacity of the 3 billion people who live on less than $2 a day. By excluding them, we deprived them of the income they need to buy our stuffand consigned them to ill health, lack of education and conflict. Instability is inherent in asymmetry. It will, and has, toppled over. The first task in rebuilding the world’s financial structure must be to bring the peripheral economies and their people into the centre.”

Gala Dinner Château Gütsch
Château GütschChâteau Gütsch has always been a very special place. From a hilltop above the city ofLucerne, you will enjoy a stunning view of Lake Lucerne and the mountains as you treatyourself to culinary specialties.
In 1859, Burkhard Pfyffer bought a piece of land and, in the same year, the Lucerne CityCouncil authorized him to run an inn there. As the years went by, what started out as asimple hostelry developed into Château Gütsch and one of Lucerne’s best addresses.
Thanks to its breathtaking views of the lake and mountains, the castle made a name foritself. And under this name, it made history before falling into a state of slumber for sometime. But now the Sleeping Beauty has awakened, and the fairy-tale castle on the little hillabove the city of Lucerne has started a new life.
The restaurant Petit Palais and the banquet rooms were reopened in July 2008. Today,Chef Fabian Inderbitzin, who was recognized by Gault Millau as the Discovery of the Year2008 in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, and Restaurant Manager Mathieu Zim-mermann, Sommelier of the Year 2005, provide gastronomic delights of the highest level.
Gerry HofstetterGerry Hofstetter is a former head of investment banking and helicopter pilot. Since 1999,he has been transforming buildings, monuments, landscapes and mountains throughoutthe world into temporary works of art by means of his spectacular light art projections.
Gerry’s art does not just appeal to people’s sense of aesthetics and predilection for thedramatic; his light images frequently also harbor messages, such as when in 2005 he illuminated the Matterhorn from several heavy-lift helicopters in order to draw attentionto the issue of glacial retreat in the Alps. He also undertook light art expeditions to theAntarctic in 2003 and 2005; in a project in support of the United Nations International Yearof Freshwater 2003, he illuminated icebergs from a Russian expedition boat, creatingtemporary memorials to alert mankind to the increasing problem of global warming.
With his illuminations, the Swiss artist aims wherever possible to encourage beholders tocontemplate the lit-up monument and to actively consider how our planet can develop inan environmentally-friendly, sustainable manner.
