Who doesn’t want to win some cash? In past years, prior to the National
Convention in 2016, we always had a “cash raffle” to help with the convention
costs by giving everyone a chance at winning some cash. The IASCOE board is
bringing the raffle back this year and YOU could be a winner! Tickets are $1 per
ticket or $5 for 6 tickets. Cash prizes are 1-$200 prize, 1-$100 prize and 4-$25
prizes. Tickets are available from any IASCOE Director and can be purchased at
the convention as well.
IASCOE will be having a Spirits Raffle with proceeds going into the general fund to help defray the cost of convention. We are asking each county to donate a spirit to help the cause. Some ideas could include whiskey, wine, rum chata, schnapps, 6 pack of craft beers, etc. In the past
we have kept with the “Made in Iowa” theme and that is still encouraged, but this year we are going to keep it interesting and open it up to all spirits. Raffle tickets will be sold at
convention. Please contact Mary Roberts @ 712.297.7528 Ext 200 to arrange a pick up or deliver to IASCOE Convention March 22.
The IASCOE scholarship auction is a big part of the convention. This year, we
are fortunate to be hosting the Midwest Area Convention immediately following
the IASCOE Convention. The bonus of hosting the MWA Convention is that in
addition to our contributions to the auction, the other states will also bring items
for auction. All proceeds from the auction will be split between IASCOE (75%)
and NASCOE (25%). This auction benefits our children, grandchildren and
members as they further their education.
We challenge each office to provide something for the auction. We will be
having both a SILENT and a LIVE Auction. Be creative- jewelry, home-crafted
items, themed items, specialty items from your area; the possibilities are
endless! We have a very “special” auctioneer and are confident that it should be
a fun-filled and profitable event.
If you are unable to attend the auction and have an item to donate, but can’t find
a way to get it there; contact a director and we will help you get it to the
convention. Once you have an item, take a photo of it and submit to one of the
auction chairmen so it can be posted on Share-point. If you see something you
wish to bid on and can’t attend, connect with someone who would be willing to
bid for you!
This is a very fun way to raise funds for our scholarships. Remember that ALL
money raised goes towards the scholarship fund.

“Selfie” Skywalk Scavenger Hunt
Join in the 2018 IASCOE fun!
Are you heading to IASCOE this year? How familiar are you with downtown Des Moines? The
Downtown Marriott, where the convention is being held, is directly connected to a four-mile-long
skywalk, which gives visitors the ability to walk to hotels, restaurants, coffee shops and more!
We wanted a fun way to show you what the downtown area has to offer, so in conjunction with Catch Des
Moines, we will be having a “Selfie” Scavenger Hunt Thursday evening, March 22nd, during hospitality.
Participants will be randomly grouped into teams of five. Each team will be provided with a map, a clue
card, and their very own selfie stick. The first team to return with all of their group selfies, in front of the
correct skywalk points, wins! There will be cash prizes, as well as a bonus prize for the team with the best
group selfie!
The hunt will take approximately one hour, and will showcase some of Downtown Des Moines’ historic
buildings, as well as some of the new construction. You’ll see the lobby of the brand new, extremely
elegant, Downtown Hilton, as well as finding the Court Avenue Brewing Company, where they are
known for their handcrafted brews and house root beers.
Teams will be limited, so if you think you would like to participate in this
event, please email [email protected]. Also, don’t forget to send in
your registration! We look forward to seeing everyone at this year’s
convention!
