Hotel Bardøla, Geilo, is located near the popular Geilo Ski Resort. A train ride to Geilo takes approximately 3.5 hours from Oslo and 3 hours from Bergen. The hotel offers traditional homemade Norwegian cuisine. Leisure activities include an indoor pool, spa, large indoor play area, table tennis and tennis. Hardangervidda National Park offers plenty of hiking trails, and is only a 30-minute drive away. There is free Wi-Fi access. The Geilo train station is 2 km away, and the hotel offers free transportation if required.

The workshop fee includes room and board.

The hotel serves delicious traditional Norwegian cuisine. The hotel will try its utmost to accommodate people with allergies, special diets and vegetarians and serve suitable meals. Please send information to Sunniva at the hotel ([email protected]) well in advance of the workshop and she will do her utmost to accommodate these needs.

The following meals will be served during the workshop: Breakfast, lunch, fruit in the afternoon and dinner. On Tuesday June 23rd breakfast and lunch will served.

The workshop will take place at Hotel Bardøla and possibly the public music school nearby. Public concerts will take place at Geilo Culture Church and the hotel. Geilo is a small village with everything close by. The hotel bus will be available for transport when needed.

Students at the workshop will be mainly taught in groups, divided according to each child’s level. The Suzuki repertoire will be the basis for the repertoire and is played by heart. The workshop invites children of all ages and levels to participate. The workshop will be arranged similar to previous years’ arrangement: Playing in groups, orchestra and concerts, plus master classes and chamber music for the advanced students. Music theory will also be taught. The repertoire list will be sent to the participants well in advance of the course. It is also possible to book individual lessons for an additional fee, paid directly to the teacher.

Leisure activities will include social gatherings in the evenings, Midsummer Eve barbecue, football, swimming in the indoor pool and much more. Geilo is surrounded by breathtaking nature and mountains, lakes and rivers. There will be some leisure time during the day to allow families to participate in activities such as cycling, horseback riding, rafting, fishing and more. We hope that families can combine this summer workshop with holiday activities offered by the hotel and the village of Geilo, and bring home memories of musical challenges, Norway’s peaceful environment, and bonds with new friends.

We are very lucky to announce that Hornaas Musikk will sell instruments and equipment for instruments and repair minor instrument problems or damages, and Norsk Musikkforlag (Norwegian Music Publishers) will sell music books, sheet music and music stands at the course.
