PS20200041 CONTRACTOR FOR CHARLESON PARK RENEWAL INFORMATION MEETING – 10:00 am, February 11, 2020 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS NO. 2 ISSUED ON: February 19, 2020 Q1 Is there a soils report? A1 We are not aware of any soil report for this site. Q2 Can the Japanese beetle soil be reused and buried on sight? Or can you quantify how much soil will need to be trucked to the Landfill? A2 Yes, the soil can be reused on site. If removed, only the top 30 cm of soil needs to be deep buried. Woodchips and sand can be disposed of normally. Soil that is under hardscapes such as sidewalks can also be disposed of normally. Q3 Is the land native foreshore or has it been built up? A3 It is safe to assume that the park was located within the former shoreline of False Creek and was likely filled in with fill of unknown origin, with quality much like the rest of False Creek. Q4 Are there noise restrictions? What are the allowed hours of operation? A4 As per the City of Vancouver noise control bylaw, construction must be carried out between 7:30am to 8:00pm on any weekday that is not a holiday, and between 10:00am to 8:00pm on any Saturday that is not a holiday. Construction is not permitted on Sundays. Q5 Does the site need to be secured with fencing? A5 Yes, please have site secured with construction fencing. Q6 Upon visiting the site, the boulder/timber retaining of the large tree on hill top may pose structural safety concerns per the design of the timber decking. We ask that the City revisit this design as there may be an unforeseen expense to works surrounds this item once the contractor begins investigating this scope. A6 Please see attached revised drawing LSK 02 and answers A9 and A10. (Drawing “L5.04” has been revised as “LSK 02”)

INVITATION TO TENDER “ITT” NO. PS20200041 CONTRACTOR FOR CHARLESON PARK RENEWAL

INFORMATION MEETING – 10:00 am, February 11, 2020

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS NO. 2

ISSUED ON: February 19, 2020

Q1 Is there a soils report?

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS #2

INFORMATION MEETING – 10:00 am, February 11, 2020

Q7 The drainage plans L2.01/L2.02 show solid pvc pipe under the playground, is this supposed to depict perforated drain line?

A7 Yes, perforated PVC.

Q8 Can the referenced Geotechnical Report please be provided?

A8 Please see attached Technical Memorandum.

Q9 How is the deck plan to be addressed, if/when the deck screws strike the buried boulders?

A9 ALLOWABLE JOIST SPAN / BEAM SPACING: Max. 3.37m. (Drawing shows 1.5m at the most, which means the deck could be extended to the east, or to the west, by spacing the beams further apart.) Allowable cantilever is 400mm.

ALLOWABLE BEAM SPAN / POST SPACING: The ground screws are considered to be the posts. The maximum distance between posts should be 1.8m apart. Drawing has been revised to show 5 additional ground screws

Total ground screws:

13 KSF U 66 x 865-91 3 KSF F 76 x 1600-R

Q10 Cross Section 3/L5.04 shows the lower deck screws projecting significantly into new topsoil, we feel that this will prove to lack structural strength to support the deck structure. Please advise.

A10 Where the grade drops on the west side of the deck, the ground screws have been changed to longer “F” type ground screws with an accessory and short post:

KSF F 76 x 1600-R

Please see attached revised drawing LSK 02.

Q11 What is the expected delivery and install date of the ship play structure & swing?

A11 Expected delivery is late April/Early May but can be adjusted. Please provide an estimated installation date so delivery can be coordinated accordingly.
