PICTURE-PERFECT VILLAGESAn exciting day of walking and driving begins among the picture-postcard villages tucked into mountains along Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor.Like a tiny Venice on the bay, Perast’s magnificent Baroque palazzos and elegant churches evoke its prosperous seafaring past. Climbing up the surrounding hills, you will view scenic Kotor’s medieval walls, centuries-old cobblestoned squares, palaces, and churches, before heading to the alluring island Our Lady of the Rocks. Traveling through dramatic landscapes you’ll reach Njegusi, the historic home of Montenegro’s rulers, to enjoy lunch in a local tavern for a delicious sampling of the village’s famous smoke-cured ham, cheeses and honey brandy. The gorgeous Adriatic coastline comes alive on a 6.25-mile discovery by sea kayak, where you can marvel at splendid mountains and refresh with a dip in its famously limpid waters.

CULTURAL TREASURES AND A GALA DINNER An outstanding adventure continues in the historic town of Split with a visit to the Mestrovic Gallery, the magnificent summer home and studio of internationally renowned sculptor Ivan Mestrovic, often called the Rodin of Croatia. After a private cocktail reception in the property’s gorgeous Mediterranean gardens, with breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea and Dalmatian islands, we will gather for a special performance by the distinguished Croatian cellist Ana Rucner. To extend this celebratory moment you will indulge in an extravagant four-course gala dinner prepared by the finest Croatian chefs and paired with exceptional local wines before returning to port for the night.

ROMANTIC VISTAS AND LOCAL DELICACIESOn the Istrian Peninsula, nestled among the gentle slopes of Mount Učka, you will travel to charming Opatija, whose sunny microclimate and therapeutic waters made it a favorite 19th-century destination of European aristoc-racy and nobility. The adventure continues in the hilltop village of Mošćenice, where winding cobbled streets and picturesque stone houses lead to an ancient fort and breathtaking views of Kvarner Bay.

Heading inland, you will taste and have the opportunity to purchase luscious wines and delicacies made from prized truffles gathered near the tranquil town of Buzet. The Aura company based there har-vests wild apples, pears, sage, rose petals, and forest fruits from the pristine Ćićarija Mountains and produces delectable gourmet brandies and jams.
