The ASHRAE Iowa Chapter has a busy
April planned. First this month is our
annual webcast on April 23rd. Society is
providing a broadcast titled “New
Tomorrows for Today’s Buildings:
Existing Building Commissioning.”
The Iowa Energy Center has graciously
volunteered to host a broadcast viewing. If
you would like to attend the viewing at the
Iowa Energy Center please follow the link
to the left for registration.
Our annual Spring Fling is being held a
couple weeks early. The golf committee
has been working hard since the fall frolic
to secure this venue. We are hosting the
golf outing at the historic Wakonda Club.
If you haven’t done so already dust your
clubs off, get a foursome registered, and
come out April 27th to help get rid of some
cabin fever. You bring the comradery and
Wakonda will provide the pristine views.
If you haven’t done so already, please sign
up to sponsor a hole. This tournament
helps provide funding to our Research
Promotion campaign.

Welcome to April of our
2014-15 ASHRAE
calendar year. I’m sure
everyone is gearing up
for another busy and
productive cooling
season. The thawing
weather gives us all
motivation to leave our
winter hibernation and
attend upcoming events
on the docket. Once
again, our chapter and
region have many
opportunities for
professional and
personal development.
Thank you to everyone
that attended our March
technical session and
meeting. This was a rare
opportunity to hear from
two ASHRAE
Distinguished Lecturers in
one day: Ron Vallort and
Ron Jarnagin. Many of
our members took
advantage of the
occasion to accumulate
PDH’s for the price of
(almost) nothing.
Special thanks to the
Cedar Valley and
Mississippi Valley
chapters for
coordinating Mr.
Jarnagin’s visit while he
was in the state.
The chapter meeting on
Thursday, April 23rd will
include a viewing of the
ASHRAE Webcast titled
“New Tomorrows for
Today’s Buildings: Existing
Building Commissioning.”
The meeting and
broadcast will be hosted
by the Iowa Energy
Center on the Ankeny
DMACC campus. See
the front page of this
newsletter and the
website to register.
Coming up in less than a
month: the ASHRAE
Region VI CRC
(Chapters Regional
Conference) in
Bettendorf, IA on April
30th to May 2nd. This is
another in-state CRC, so
the Iowa Chapter will
need to represent as
well as they did last year.
If you are on the fence,
please consider joining
us to help maintain our
chapter’s sterling
reputation. More
information and
registration is available
at
http://www.mississippival
leyashrae.org/crc.php .
Hurry and sign up, early
bird pricing ends on April
16th.
I look forward to seeing
you at our next meeting
and the CRC!
