iPads in a 5th Grade
Classroom
Jamie K. Loveland
Why use iPads in the classroom? iPads allow us to access information instantly and to
practice making sense of the bits of data.
iPads are a natural progression to 1:1 ratio for technical devices for students.
The 1:1 ratio of iPads allows for frequent formative assessments and instant student feedback.
At the present time, they are a huge motivator for the students. (I know the excitement will fade in time, but I am taking advantage of it now!)
iPads support the core curriculum!
Making Sense of Information
Let’s use it!

Kindle
Students bring in a login from home. Free app for home, school, and
anywhere in-between. Students can have access to funds,
gift cards, etc. Students may also take out free
ebooks from the HTFL. Use for SSR in LA. Use for reading books in other
subjects that relate to the theme. I would love to find a way to have a
classroom account for guided reading books and centers.
Information Seeking Strategies

fractions with unlike denominators, etc
Garage Band
