The company started when three leading magazine publishers: George Newnes, established in 1881, Odhams Press, established in 1890 and Fleetway Publications established in 1880 joined together with the Mirror Group to form IPC magazines in 1968.

The 1800’s: 8 IPC publications that are still going today were launched in the late 1800’s including: Country life, Cycling weekly and Horse and hound.

The 1940’s: IPC’s Woman’s Weeklies played a key wartime role, keeping the morale of woman up and supplying important information on behalf of the Government.

The 1970’s: IPC is acquired by The Reed Group, this forms the giant global corporation, Reed International.

The 1990’s: New musical express, one of the magazines many publications, goes on to be the first major UK music title to get its own website – nme.com

The 2000’s: IPC change their name from IPC Magazines to IPC Media for the new millennium.

On the 10th October 2013 IPC Media reported a 75% fall in pre-tax profits for 2012

On October 7th 2013 IPC Media announced that one of their most popular magazines NME is getting a major redevelopment

On August 28th 2013 Marie Claire another popular magazine aimed at women celebrated its 25th birthday
