‘VIBE’ examples of magazine covers:

• The genre my magazine will be is R ‘n’ B so I have found examples of previous Vibe magazines as this is a popular R’n’B magazine that I will want to relate to when creating my own. In 4 out of the 6 magazines I have shown have used red as the main colour with black and white as the other colours. This is the type of colour pallet I will try to use- a white background, so everything on the front cover stands out to the readers on top of the white. Along with the white I will use black or a dark colour like dark blue as well as a bold eye catching colour like red as I think this looks good on the example magazine covers. All of the magazines have used one large striking image that is placed in the centre of the cover, this is a technique I will use as well. The people on the front cover are all presented in a certain way expressed by the clothes they wear and the poses they are striking. The men are shown as quite rough and portray a bad boyish behaviour to the readers. This is shown by the tattoos and hats they are wearing. The women are presented in a certain way also, with tight fitting clothes which are very revealing- the women are dressed in black and white or all black which links to the colour scheme used on the front pages. This is what I will try to do when creating my own magazine – I will stick to a certain colour scheme throughout and present my person in simple colours that will match this. I think this will make my magazine look professional.

I will aim to dress my people in outgoing clothes as this will be eye catching for the readers and is how the people are presented in “vibe”. The males are dressed in hats and showing tattoos etc.
