The organizing committee is pleased to invite you to the st International Conference on “The Integrated Protection of Date Palms,” to be held at the Arabian Gulf University, Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain from March 13-14 ,2017.

We are diligently working on bringing together researchers from a variety of disciplines who are working on vital topics in this area. These researches are from virtually all date producing countries. This conference will have two full days of technical sessions, along with poster sessions regarding issues on the cutting edge of date palm pest management. There will also be many opportunities for the exchange of information, ideas and interaction among colleagues.

The conference logo has been adapted from a date palm impression from the Bronze Age that was cast on a seal from Bahrain, which was at that time the center of the Dilmun civilization ( 2000 BC). Throughout history, date palms have been considered to be a fundamental source of life for the Bahraini people, not only for their nutritious fruit, but also for various other aspects of life.

Abstract Submission

We are happy to invite you to submit abstract(s) for oral or poster presentation under the following topic areas:

Topics

• Main date palm pests: Insects, fungi, nematodes, viruses and weeds

• Control methods: Cultural, chemical, physical and biological

• Integrated Pest Management Strategies

• Economically and technically feasible alternatives to Methyl Bromide

• Molecular approaches to date pest management.

Abstract Guidelines

Abstracts should be submitted as a word format file via online or email to ipdp.conference@agu.edu.bh.

• The abstract should not exceed words and must be submitted in English.

• Use Times New Roman - point font for the abstract.

•

The authors must proofread the abstract before submission, and it is the authors’ .stcartsba tcerroc timbus ot ytilibisnopser

At least one of the authors of the abstract must be registered for the Conference before February 15th, 2017 to secure a spot in the program.

•

All abstracts submitted either for Oral or Poster presentation will go through a review process by the Scientific Committee, and authors will be notified of their abstract acceptance by email.

English is the official language of the Conference.
