Shiny New SoftwareSomething we’ve come to expect from Apple after every few iterations of the iPhone is an upgrade of the IOS system. A test version of IOS9 has already been released, and is expected to be on devices with the release of the iPhone 7 in September. The overhauled software is expected to contribute to some of the other improvements we’re looking at below, such as better battery capacity and improved Maps and Notes apps.

Performance Upgrade for the iPhone 7Alongside the shiny new software, the iPhone 7 will be equipped with a new processor, probably named the A9; according to TechRadar, the chip is going to be 20% more powerful and 35% more power efficient than its predecessor from the iPhones 6 and 6 Plus.

Upgrade for the iPadThe Apple iPhone improvements also herald upgrades for the iPad, with IOS9 being implemented on the tablet devices, too. This aids a cohesive business experience between devices –helpful for all professionals.Battery Life Improvement

So far there’s no news of an increased battery capacity in the iPhone 7, but with the A9 chip being 35% more power efficient than the A8, it’s hoped the iPhone 7 will make it through the working day despite heavy use by business users.

Battery Capacity ImprovementThere’s no guarantee of this yet, but there’s hope that the iPhone 7 may make use of new battery tech as found in Apple’s most recent Mac release. Fingers crossed, business users.

E-SimThis is technology that Apple have been working on for a while, and although it probably won’t be ready for release in the Autumn, it should be ready in around a year for use on iPhone 7 devices. Apple are developing an entirely electronic sim to replace the standard sims we’re all familiar with. This will be especially beneficial for business users, as it’ll allow them to switch between plans and networks easily, without a lot of messing around.

QuickType shortcutsApple have introduced a range of new keyboard shortcuts to the iPhone 7, and iPads running IOS9 with a view to making them viable alternatives to laptops. The new iPad keyboard will also have copy and paste shortcuts, as well as the ability to behave like a standard laptop trackpad to help control the curser in a way that feels natural to the standard user.

Improved Sound QualitySomething Apple are constantly accused of with their iPhone designs is neglecting call quality. The iPhone 7 will see the addition of an extra microphone next to the speaker, helping improve the quality of calls and FaceTime calls.

Force touchForce touch is a technology originally developed for the Apple Watch, designed to distinguish between types of touch and react differently to these touches. It’ll be handy for business users in productivity apps, and help to accomplish tasks quicker, enabling you to get more done.

Passbook is now WalletThis is essentially Passbook as we know it now, with the addition of Apple Pay. The app will allow you to store the details of several credit and debit cards, and select the card you wish to use for each transaction; letting you pay for goods by simply tapping your phone against a sensor on the till.

Overhauled Notes AppAnother iPhone App to receive an overhaul is the Notes App. Hoping to draw users back from apps such as Evernote, the new Notes app has a massively increased functionality, including the ability to add photos to lists, create interactive to-do lists, and more.

Maps ImprovementsApple Maps has been considered just a bit laughable in the past, but with the release of the iPhone 7 and IOS9 Apple have removed any errors from previous iterations of the Apps, and introduced a detailed public transport map option for many big cities across the world, including 300 in China!
