Santiago Hinojosa(Burson Marsteller)

• President & CEO, Latin America • He has more than 25 years of combined experience in the

public relations and advertising industries. Santiago was Bozell Worldwide Managing Director for Latin America and he served as Regional Managing Director for DMB&B Americas, based in Mexico City.

He spent 17 years with McCann-Erickson Worldwide having worked in Puerto Rico, Brazil, Peru, Chile, and Mexico. In Peru, Chile and Mexico, he served as Managing Director. While at McCann-Erickson, he received twice the H.K.

He holds a Masters Degree in International Business from Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management and a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin.

Alberto Arébalos(Google)

• Global Communication and Public Affairs Director • Arébalos joined Google in June 2007 as Global Communication and

Public Affairs Director, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has worked in the field of public relations, as Vice-President of agencies Fleishman Hillard in Miami and Citigate Dewe-Rogerson in New York.

He is a Higher Technician on Electronics and Telecommunications, and was a journalist for 17 years, during which he worked for EFE and Reuters news agencies, for whom he was a correspondent in Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela and Editor for Latin America, based in Miami, USA.

He is author of The Horizontal Revolution. He has been invited to be a speaker for conferences and seminars in the field of public relations and Web 2.0 in universities and events in the field in Argentina, Colombia and Mexico.

Leonardo Ortiz-Villacorta (Microsoft Corporation)

• Director, Public Affairs & Communications • He is responsible for driving the worldwide communications and

positioning for the company's intellectual property strategy and conveying Microsoft's principles.

Previously, he served for 6 years as Director of Public Affairs & Communications for Latin America at Microsoft Corporation, responsible for positioning, corporate citizenship and government elites outreach within 46 Latin American and Caribbean countries and territories in which Microsoft is operating. He was also Corporate Image & Public Relations Manager for Microsoft Mexico (1999-2003).

His career in the public sector included positions such as Deputy Press Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Mexico, Operations Director for the State Arts Council at the local Government of Baja California, Deputy Director for International Press a the Office of the President of Mexico.

Faisal S. Al-Zahrani(Saudi Aramco)

• Director of Media Relations & Publications• In 2006, he joined Saudi Aramco Public Relations department

and worked as Director of Exhibits and Public Activities and currently serves as Director of Publications and Media Relations. He also served as Assistant to Vice President and Assistant to Vice President, as a Performance Improvement Consultant, and as Director of Continuing Excellence Department.

Mr. Al Zahrani graduated with a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of the Pacific California, USA in 1988. He is an IPRA member since 2006 and the president of IPRA Gulf Chapter covering Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia since 2008.

He is also an active member and high level officer in many international societies and organizations which include the Society of Organizational Learning (SOL), the Arabian Society for Human Resources Management (ASHRM) and Toastmasters International Organization.

Olav Ljösne(Shell)

• Senior Manager, Communications, International Operations• Olav Ljosne is Shell’s Senior Manager, Communications,

International Operations, based in Washington DC.

He was Regional Communications Director Africa, based in Lagos, Nigeria for five years as part of his 20 years career in Shell. Based in den Haag, Stockholm, London and Oslo he has been engaged in projects and works in most parts of the world.

Prior to Shell he served as a diplomat at Norwegian Embassies in Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Iran, and has also worked with relations to United Nations. His career also covers journalism and full time politics in Norway and internationally.

He holds University degrees in Political Science, Law, Social science and Arabic language. He has been a council member of IPRA for three years and leader of the Swedish IPRA group.

Yanina Budkin(World Bank)

• The World Bank's Senior Communication Officer for Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay

• Her responsibilities include development of communication strategies for these countries targeting audiences such as government, civil society, business community, media, key opinion leaders and academics. She has provided advice to the senior management on political risk in the countries.

She was Manager of Marketing and Healthcare Practice for Burson Marsteller, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. She worked with clients such as AT&T, Aventis, Beiersdorf, Celsam Argentina y Uruguay, Johnson & Johnson Medical, Kimberly Clark, Motorola, Nickelodeon, Revlon, among others.

Yanina Budkin is a Master of Arts of Communication Management from the University of Southern California. She also holds a Master on Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government from Harvard University.

Andrey Barannikov(Ogilvy)

• CEO of SPN Ogilvy communications agency• Andrey Barannikov is the winner of many prestigious Russian

and international industry awards as SABRE Award (2006, 2007, 2008), IPRA Golden World Award (2004), Media Manager of Russia (2006) and the Silver Archer (2002, 2008) for excellence in public relations and business.

In 2007 he was named one of the 50 most professional top managers in the Professional Services category of the Top 1000 Russian Managers annual rating, compiled by Kommersant Publishing House and the Russian Managers Association. In 2008 he was included in Top 100 Best Managers of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region by Delovoy Peterburg business daily (in the category “Advertizing, Marketing and PR Agencies”).

• He started his career as a PR manager in the Swedish agency Andreasson Public Relations; he then became the Head of the PR Department and the Deputy CEO of SPN Granat communications agency.

Aliza Chelminsky(Pfizer)

• Regional Corporate Affairs Director• Her previous position, before joining Pfizer, was with

the Mexican Government (2001-2006). She initiated and chaired the Transparency Networking Unit at the Ministry of Public Administration. She was Country Manager for Burson-Marsteller Mexico (1995-2001).

As Vice President of the Mexican Investment Board, she participated in the negotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). She is a founding member of the Center for the Study of Institutional Governance, Hills Program of Governance, CSIS-IPADE.

Aliza graduated from the top Management Program AD2 at IPADE. She studied English Literature at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and graduated from the School of Languages and Linguistics at Georgetown University.

Christophe Ginisty(Rumeur Publique)

• Founder and managing director of Paris-based Rumeur Publique

• Ginisty has been working closely with Francois Bayrou, the leader of the French Democrate party to develop creative bridges between Internet and politics. In 2007, Christophe has founded “Internet sans frontieres”, an NGO devoted to promote the freedom of expression of every citizen throughout the web. In addition, he has founded the “Festival de Romans”, the first festival awarding human creativity on the Internet.

Christophe is a sought after spokesperson on new media, digital revolution and the impact of the Internet on our societies. He writes on his own personal blog (www.ginisty.com), and he is considered as one of the most influent bloggers in France.

He is a member of “Renaissance Numérique”, a French business club lobbying the government to promote the massive adoption of technology throughout the French society. He is also a board member of IPRA (International Public Relations Associations).

Michael Maslov(Maslov PR)

• General Director and co-founder• He is responsible for corporate practice and advises a

number of key clients, including Google and Boeing. He also coordinates the image of Russia in the G8 project.

In 1999 he became the second Russian PR professional to receive membership in the International Public Relations Association (IPRA); in the beginning of 2005 he was elected as an official representative of Russia in the IPRA Council. In 2003 Michael was the head of the Russian Association of PR Consultants (AKOS) and represented Russia in the ICCO Council.

Michael graduated with honors from the Moscow State Institute of International Affairs (under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Faculty of International Information. In 2000, he submitted a thesis in the same university and obtained a PhD degree in political science.

Deborah Charnes Vallejo(Bromley Communications)

• VP, Managing Director of Public Relations• Her responsibilities include strategic development of

communications plans and implementation of public relations programs geared primarily toward U.S. Latino markets.

With 25 years in the multi-cultural communications area, she has managed programs throughout Latin America, the United States for a wide variety of blue chip clients, including McDonald's, Burger King, Western Union, AT&T, Federal Express, Delta Air Lines, Nike, Texaco, Choice Hotels, Nestle, General Mills, Miller Brewing and Coors Beer, and numerous pharmaceutical houses.

Charnes Vallejo attended the National Autonomous University of Mexico and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois-Urbana. She is a contributing author of two university public relations textbooks, and has been a judge of the International Public Relations Association's Golden World Awards for six consecutive years.

Antonio Tamayo (President of Hill and Knowlton, Mexico)

• Responsible for overseeing public relations services, especially in crisis management. He is practice leader at H&K’s Health and Wellness for Latin America.

• He has lead several regional communications and public relations initiatives for multinational companies in the food, health and consumer marketing industries.

• Antonio is co-founder and former president of the Mexican Professional Public Relations Agencies Association. Mr. Tamayo was vice president of Bermudez & Associates, a Los Angeles-based advertising, marketing and public relations company, specialized in the Hispanic market.

Gary Wells(Dix & Eaton)

• Senior Managing Director• Wells established a network that is unique to Dix & Eaton

of communications agencies around the world, with some 75 agencies in 50 nations.

He is a past chairman of the International Public Relations Network. Mr. Wells is a member of the National Press Club, Overseas Press Club of America, National Investor Relations Institute and International Public Relations Association.

The Dix and Eaton team works with media around the world, building relationships with the most important business in key markets in Asia, Europe and more. This approach regularly results in stories about client organizations in such key media as CNBC, Financial Times, ICIS Chemical Business, BBC.com, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Business Week, EDN, The Times of London, CNN, and many others.

Jon Higgins(Ketchum)

• Senior Partner and CEO International• Jon Higgins is responsible for overseeing all worldwide offices

outside North America for Ketchum. Prior to assuming this role in 2008, Jon was CEO of Ketchum EMEA, covering offices in the U.K., Germany, France, Spain and Italy.

• While CEO of Ketchum London, among the accolades the London office garnered included being named the U.K.´s fastest-growing top-tier agency in 2003, being recognized by The Financial Times as one of the "UK´s 50 Top Great Places to Work" and being designated by PR industry pundit Paul Holmes as the "Best Place to Work in Europe".

• This international phase of Jon´s career came after six years with Ketchum in California. During this time, Ketchum was the number-one agency in the Bay Area and earning more than a dozen national industry awards.

Harald Zulauf(Media Consulta)

• Managing Director and CEO• He is responsible for the administration, expansion and new

business development of global MEDIA CONSULTA network agency. He also supervises key institutional accounts such as the Federal Chancellorship of Germany, the European Commission (several General Directorates) and the Central European Bank, the United Nations, as well as large international clients such as Vodafone, Dunlop, Lidl, the Tourism Authority of Malta and Air Malta.

He worked on a freelance basis while still a student; he became a TV journalist for politics and business with the Westdeutscher Rundfunk and the ARD in Cologne in 1985. He worked as a PR consultant for the Minister of Defence in Bonn. He worked for the Trust Agency – SED special assets section – in the reorganisation and privatisation of the former East German state media agencies, including “Neues Deutschland”.

Harald Zulauf studied business, politics and international law in Cologne, Washington, London and Paris.

Laura Schoen(Weber Shandwick)

• Responsible for Weber Shandwick's operations in Latin America.

• She joined the company in 2000 and, as president of global healthcare, built the firm's powerful worldwide healthcare operations. Her client experience includes United Technologies, Citigroup, Pfizer, Eli Lilly and Procter & Gamble.

Laura worked for Euro RSCG (1991-2000) and at Burson Marsteller (1983-1991). At Burson Marsteller, she managed the start up of the company's operations in Mexico, which represented the Mexican government throughout the NAFTA negotiations.

She earned a B.A. in journalism and holds a master's degree in international relations and business from the University of Pennsylvania.

Pablo de la Flor(Antamina)

• Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Antamina Mining Company.

• Pablo de la Flor has an extensive experience in the field of international commercial negotiations, having acted as vice minister of Foreign Trade.

He was the head of the negotiating team of the FTA with the US, and was in charge of negotiations with Thailand, Singapore, EFTA, Mercosur, Mexico and Chile.

He followed PhD studies on political economy in the University of Chicago, and holds two Masters Degrees on Public Administration (Harvard) and International Affairs (Yale).

Blanca Fullana( Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Spain)

• Professor. She has 15 year agency experience, last 10 at Edelman managing the company in Spain.

• Blanca has managed Edelman in Spain, first world wide independent agency, since 2006. Her professional experience includes 5 years at Weber Shandwick. She has had the opportunity of working for multiple of today's top ranked brands, managing programs and teams in corporate and consumer PR campaigns alike.

Her interest and reputation lie in the strategic 360 degree view and approach of communications; making PR an essential aspect in the building of the brand equity of businesses, products and institutions.

Blanca Fullana is also speaker and lecturer at various locations including the University Diego Portales in Santiago de Chile.

James E. Grunig(University of Maryland, College Park)

• He is considered the Father of Modern Public Relations and the most prestigious university professor of this discipline.

• Author of more than a hundred Public Relations articles and research papers, the most renowned of which is "Dirección de las Relaciones Públicas" (Public Relations Direction), a reference book for the leading professionals of world entrepreneurial communication. He is a professor emeritus of the University of Maryland, College Park.

Elizabeth Goenawan Ananto(IPRA President 2010)

• She is founder of EGA briefings, public relations and communications consultant in Indonesia.

• She is the Coordinator of Master in Communication Management in Post-graduate Program at Trisakti University. Her commitment to developing the educational management of public relations has led to the creation of a Master in Communication Management in 2005.

Elizabeth is the project director of Clean Up the World Campaign in Indonesia, under the sponsorship of the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP). Furthermore, Public Relations Week Indonesia, a ten-year educational campaign aiming at changing public perception on the significant role of public relations in management is one of her initiatives.

A graduate from English Department at Padjadjaran University and a Master in Marketing, she joined a Postgraduate program in Public Relations at Stirling University in Scotland. She obtained a Ph.D in Business Management from Northern University of Malaysia in 2004.

Robert W. Grupp(President of the Institute for PR)

• Past president of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA).

• He is an expert in international corporate communications, with 30 years of experience as a public relations and corporate communications consultant. He is the CEO of his own international management consulting firm: "Grupp Global Partners LLC".

Juan Carlos Molleda(University of Florida)

• Coordinator of the Department of Public Relations in the College of Journalism and Communications

• He is also the 2010-2012 vice chair of the International Communication Association´s Public Relations Division. Dr. Molleda is founding member of the Institute for Public Relations´ Commission on Global Communication Research, and co-owner of Latin & Hispanic Strategic Communications.

He is member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Strategic Communication, Journal of Communication Management, Journal of Public Relations Research, and Public Relations Review.

He holds a Ph.D. in mass communication with an emphasis on international public relations and international business from the University of South Carolina (USA).

Antonio Nogüero(Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona)

• News Director• Professor of Language, Literature and History.

Author of different articles, essays, books and research on education and journalism. Expertise on directive positions in local media, such as La República daily news, Caretas magazine and Radio Programas del Perú, a well-known radio station, where he currently holds the position of News Director.

Mike Okereke(Mike Okereke Consulting Ltd.)

• Chairman of Mike Okereke Consulting Ltd. • He is an member IPRA. He is America ATLAS Award winner

for life time achievement in International Public Relations Practice.

He is Chairman of The Management School of London. Chairman of TMS International, Dubai; Chairman of Mike Okereke Consulting Ltd. President, BEEC International, Ghana and Nigeria and is a Council Member of ESUT Business School, Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Nigeria.

Okereke was named Public Relations Executive of the Year by the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Nigeria in 2004. He is Past President of the Federation of African Public Relations Association and Past President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

Dejan Verčič(Pristop)

• Founding partner in Pristop, a communication management consultancy based in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

• He has published over 200 articles, books, chapters, papers, and reports. His most recent book is "The Global Public Relations Handbook: Theory, Research, and Practice" (with K. Sriramesh, 2nd ed. 2009 by Routledge). Verčič served, inter alia, as the chairman of the Research Committee of the IABC Research Foundation and as the President of the European Public Relations Education and Research Association (EUPRERA).

In 2001 he was awarded the Alan Campbell-Johnson Medal for outstanding service to international public relations by the UK Chartered Institute of Public Relations (of which he is a Fellow).

He is an Associate Professor for Public Relations at the University of Ljubljana. He holds a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Ana Tkalac Verčič(University of Zagreb, Croatia)

• Associate Professor, Faculty of Business and Economics• In 2001, she was a Fulbright scholar working under the

mentorship of James E. Grunig, one of the leading world academics in the area of public relations. In 2003, she received a Ph.D. at the University of Zagreb and became the first public relations academic with a Ph.D. in Croatia, introducing undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of public relations.

She is the first Croatian academic to publish papers in top public relations journals and present at top public relations conferences. She co-edited "Public Relations Metrics: Research and Evaluation" with Betteke van Ruler and Dejan Verčič.

She is a visiting lecturer at the Universita della Svizzera italiana, one of the leading international institutions in the area of communications. She is also a recipient of the CIPR Diploma and a qualified CIPR lecturer, as well as the director for the CIPR program in Croatia.
