PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Two Greek words, Anemos Statikos, were selected and combined to form the word Anemostat, which literally means to
control wind. Since 1934, our products and components have reflected this name, and have stood for quality, durabili-
ty, and reliability.
Over seventy years ago, our founder F.J. Kurth, developed a design for diffusing air in ventilating and air conditioning sys-
tems from the scientific principle of aspiration. Since then, he and several gifted engineers have researched and devel-
oped a wide range of air distribution products that have been installed worldwide. Anemostat has long been a recog-
nized leader in the air distribution industry with our complete line of air products and HVAC control systems.
Anemostat has acquired the rights to further develop and distribute the S-Vent®
product line for security applications. This proprietary and highly unique product
line was developed to combat physical and performance problems associated
with HVAC grilles in areas where confined living quarters exist.
Some of these common problems include suicide, contraband storage and
weapons sources, obstructed ventilation and excessive corrosion. Fortunately
what has become a burdensome and expensive maintenance item can be virtu-
ally eliminated with the use of the S-Vent® line of products.
A unique “S” channel design with vertical mullions provides the throat of these
grilles a rigid depth, which extends from 1-7/16” to over 4” behind the face. This
provides a level of security unsurpassed in the industry.
In addition, the grille line is augmented with the only security diffuser that does not require a faceplate. Directional air-
flow in 1,2,3,4 way throw patterns without faceplate and the “dumping” that traditional security diffusers provide, is what
you’ll receive with this offering.
The Product Directory on the inside cover, provides a listing of each product with suggested applications. These include
installations in adult correctional facilities, psychiatric hospitals, juvenile detention centers and other areas of confine-
ment where extra product strength is required. Sample product specifications can be found on the last page of this
brochure.
Our engineering staff has the capability and willingness to take on unique and special applications to satisfy your securi-
ty needs, meeting or exceeding ASTM requirements. Put our sixty-five years of experience and long standing reputation
for quality and performance to work for you. We have a worldwide network of trained and qualified representatives to
assist with your job requirements.
Anemostat offers a unique approach and unlimited choices for meeting the safety and comfort requirements of your
building. We have the strategies and solutions for all of our special applications.

CONSTRUCTIONThe grille is made of 12-gauge steel (stainless steel if used in humidareas) with the outer perimeter stamped to raise the grill face5/16” from the wall or ceiling. The edge of the grill is manufacturedwith a beveled slope. The portion of the edge of the grille that willcontact the wall or ceiling upon installation is machined to a flatnessof ±0.003”. No open or unfinished edges exist. The horizontallouvers are attached to a uniweld frame and ‘locked in’ to preventmovement or removal. The vertical mullions are correspondingly‘locked in’ place creating a penetration proof neck and throat of 1-7/16” depth. Coupling nuts are attached to the back of the faceflange for use with threaded rods. A mating duct collar with nutsreceive the threaded rod and are tightened accordingly.

TEST STANDARD• ANSI / ASHRAE standard 70• Isothermal conditions
THROW• The numbers shown are throw distances, in feet, measured along the jet
trajectory axis relating to terminal velocities of 150,100,& 50 fpm and includea surface effect.
• Two way throw distance is shown for 2-way opposite configuration.• Terminal velocity is the air speed, in feet per minute, measured in the supply
air stream.• For a free jet (no surface effect), throws are 70% of the table values above.
SOUND LEVELS• NC is noise criteria curve that will not be exceeded at the operating point.
This is determined by assuming a 10dB (ref: 10-12 watts) room attenuationthat is subtracted from the power levels in each of the 2nd thru 7th octavebands
• For 1-Way diffuser, deduct 2 NC from the data shown in the table.
PRESSURE• Pt represents total pressure, inches of water, for supply.• Ps static pressure can be calculated by subtracting the Velocity pressure
from the Total Pressure (Pt), inches of water• All pressures are stated and calculated in inches of water.• For 1-Way diffuser, reduce Total Pressure, Pt = Table Value x .80

Test Standard• ANSI / ASHRAE standard 70• Isothermal conditions
Sound Levels• NC is noise criteria curve that will not be exceeded at the operating point.
This is determined by assuming a 10dB (ref: 10-12 watts) room attenuationthat is subtracted from the power levels in each of the 2nd thru 7th octavebands
• For Return use, Deduct 5 NC
Throw• The numbers shown are throw distances, in feet, measured along the jet
trajectory axis relating to terminal velocities of 150,100,& 50 fpm and includea surface effect.
• Terminal velocity is the air speed, in feet per minute, measured in the supplyair stream.
• For a free jet (no surface effect), throws are 70% of the table values above.
Pressure • Pt represents total pressure, inches of water, for supply.• For return use, negative static pressure is equal to supply total pressure:
-Ps (return) = Pt (supply)• Ps static pressure can be calculated by subtracting the Velocity pressure
from the Total Pressure (Pt), inches of water • All pressures are stated and calculated in inches of water.

Test Standard• ANSI / ASHRAE standard 70• Isothermal conditions
Sound Levels• NC is noise criteria curve that will not be exceeded at the operating point.
This is determined by assuming a 10dB (ref: 10-12 watts) roomattenuation that is subtracted from the power levels in each of the 2ndthru 7th octave bands
• For *RRSG-2 Supply, Add +3 NC• For *RRSG-1 Return, Add +3 NC• For *RRSG-2 Return, Add +6 NC
Throw• The numbers shown are throw distances, in feet, measured along the jet
trajectory axis relating to terminal velocities of 150,100,& 50 fpm andinclude a surface effect.
• Terminal velocity is the air speed, in feet per minute, measured in thesupply air stream.
• For a free jet (no surface effect), throws are 70% of the table valuesabove.
Pressure• Pt represents total pressure, inches of water, for supply• For return use, negative static pressure is equal to supply total pressure:
-Ps = Pt (supply)• Ps static pressure can be calculated by subtracting the Velocity pressure
from the Total Pressure (Pt), inches of water• All pressures are stated and calculated in inches of water.

Test Standard• ANSI / ASHRAE standard 70• Isothermal conditions• Test data includes mesh screen installed
(see RRSG for data without screen)
Sound Levels• NC is noise criteria curve that will not be exceeded at the operating point.
This is determined by assuming a 10dB (ref: 10-12 watts) roomattenuation that is subtracted from the power levels in each of the 2ndthru 7th octave bands
• For *RRMX-2 Supply, Add +3 NC• For *RRMX-1 Return, Add +3 NC• For *RRMX-2 Return, Add +6 NC

Test Standard• ANSI / ASHRAE standard 70• Isothermal air used during testing. For large grilles with a cooling differ-
ential, the drop of the air stream should be evaluated. • Data includes opposed blade volume control damper in full open position.Throw• The numbers shown are throw distances, in feet, measured along the
jet trajectory axis relating to terminal velocities of 150,100, & 50 fpm, with the jet attached to the ceiling surface. For exposed duct installa-tion with free, unattached jet, multiple throw distance in table x .70
• 0°, 22.5°,45° represent the louver deflection or spread angle settings• Terminal velocity is the air speed, in feet per minute, measured in the
supply air stream.
Opposed Blade Volume Control Dampers (OBD)• Data shown includes OBD (wide open)• Without damper, reduce NC -3• Without damper, reduce Ps x .75Sound Levels• NC shown is for 0° louver angle setting and is noise criteria curve that will
not be exceeded at the operating point. This is determined by assuming a10dB (ref: 10-12 watts) room attenuation that is subtracted from the powerlevels in each of the 2nd thru 7th octave bands. For 22.5° louver angle set-ting, add 2 NC to the tabulated value shown. For for 45° louver angle setting, add 6 NC to the tabulated value shown.

Closing the damper of a register accomplishes twoobjectives. It restricts the flow of air, thereby increasing the pressure drop and decreasing the cfm.In doing this, the damper also generates sound –increases the NC level. Figure at the right shows thedb addition of throttled and unthrottled dampers. For example a damper closed sufficiently to double thepressure loss of a register (pressure ratio of 2) causes an NC increase of about 7 db. (As a rule ofthumb – and for general reference only – it can beassumed that closing an opposed blade damper to aneffective opening ratio of 70 percent doubles the pressure loss of the damper outlet combination.Closing the damper to an effective opening ratio of fiftypercent increases the pressure loss to 4 times thegrille-open damper loss.)
