EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT – All Summer – Walk for Health and Fun (1.5hrs
to 2hrs at a Moderate to Fast Pace - We have slowed down a bit now we are getting
older!)
Climb the steps and walk the streets and trails of West Hamilton. Meet at 7:10 pm. at the
corner of Mohawk and Upper Paradise in the Westcliffe Mall parking lot (near Food
Basics). We will continue hiking sections of the Bruce Trail as well as the trails of
Iroquoia Heights C.A. There will be weekly walks all summer. Due to extended evening
daylight, we will walk longer than usual when the weather is fine. Hike is cancelled if

abrisk walk along Lake Ontario, to the canal and back. Hike cancelled in poor weather.

Sat. June 6 - Scotsdale Farm - Approx. 9 km.
Meet for a 10:00 am. start at Scotsdale Farm parking lot on the east side of Trafalgar
Rd., north of Georgetown. (Be careful, easy to miss the entrance.)We will hike these
beautiful trails. We may even be lucky enough to find some Showy Pink Ladyslippers in
bloom. Some rocky sections. Pace - leisurely. Terrain - medium. Bring water, a

Thurs. June 4 - Mountain Brow and Wentworth Stairs Loop Extended Evening
Walk - 12km (2.5 - 3 hrs)
Meet at 7:00 pm. at the top of the Wentworth Stairs on Mountain Park Ave. We will be
hiking the Mountain Brow Side Trail to where it meets the main Bruce Trail. Then we
will be returning on the main Bruce Trail, and then the fun part! We get to climb up the
Wentworth Stairs (all 500 of them!) After the hike, there will be an optional ice cream
stop. This is the only time of the year that we have enough daylight to do a 12 km. hike as
an evening walk, so come on out and enjoy the long evening daylight! Hike Cancelled, if
there is heavy rain. Directions: Take Concession Street to Upper Wentworth and turn
north toward the escarpment. Keep right and the road becomes Mountain Park Ave. Park
in the first parking lot on the left or on the street and we will meet at the top of the

Sun. June 14 - Niagara Glen - 10 km.
Meet for a 10:00 am. departure from the parking lot for the Niagara Glen Nature
Centre, 3050 Niagara Parkway, half way between Whirlpool Golf Course and Botanical
Gardens N43.130128/W-79.059011. Note: Parking and Entrance Fee.
Talk about geology, history, plants, trees, gigantic trees! This hike has them all! The
Niagara Glen is located in perhaps the best example of Carolinian Canada beside a raging
river, amazing rock formations and a world famous whirlpool. The hike is not long
however the path can be challenging and slippery, trekking poles a good idea. You will
need hiking boots. Remember that we descend into the Glen which means that after the
Whirlpool we must ascend out of the Glen. You will need a car to access this hike. Pace -

Please join us as we explore the the Tip o’ the Bruce, Tobermory, in search of orchids
and other flowers. Our search will extend to Flower Pot Island (cost approx. $45.00 for
the glass bottom boat and Parks Canada fee). The wild flowers in the Tobermory area at
this time of year are wonderful and our slow paced walks will focus on these flowers and
the area’s great views. We stay and have our meals in a comfortable hotel overlooking

This summer we will walk to full "circuit" of the Susquehannock Trail System in North
Central Pennsylvania, 135 km in walks of about 15 km/day, we will take three days of no
walking. These walks will be lead by volunteers, there is no cost, you will need your own
transportation. There is the option to join us for two days in the Ohiopyle area to visit two
of Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpieces, Falling Water and Kentuck Knob. More

Meet at 7:00 pm. at the Greensville School parking lot, located on Harvest Road in
Greensville. We will hike various trails in the area, including a portion of the Bruce Trail
past Tew’s Falls, Dundas Peak, and Webster’s Falls. Optional après hike pub stop in
Waterdown on an outdoor patio. Directions: From Burlington, take Highway 5, then turn
left on Syndham Rd. Turn right onto Harvest Road. Follow Harvest Road until you
come to the school on your right. From Hamilton, take King St. (Old Highway 8) up
escarpment and turn right Brock Rd. and then turn right on Harvest Road in Greensville

Meet Vern Erickson at Valley Park (Paramount and Mud St.) on the East mountain in
Hamilton. We will hike this unique area with its unusual geological features. Flat
Wed. August 19 - Iroquoia Heights C.A. - 2 1/2hrs.
Meet in the parking lot at the corner on Scenic Drive where the Hydro towers stand Map
7. Km. 40.6. We will hike into the conservation area through the woods and then the
Bruce Trail. We may see some deer. Hilly.
Wed. Aug. 26 - Canal Hike - 2 ½ hrs.
Meet at Hutch`s at Van Wagners Beach in Hamilton. We will hike out to the Canal on the
trail and back. Perhaps `Fish and Chips` after the hike. Flat, easy.
THURSDAY MIDWEEK HIKES
Planning a “Stay-cation” this summer. Great! Come out and enjoy the trails and some
great company.
Just a few things to keep in mind...Hiking boots are recommended. Also, due to
increasing concerns about deer tics and possible lyme disease it is recommended that you
wear a long sleeved shirt and socks tucked into long pants especially when hiking
through tall grasses. For more information about lyme disease you can Google the Suzuki

internet.
All hikes are at a moderate pace (unless otherwise stated) with the likelihood of hills and
rocky footing. Please note that the starting time varies! No dogs, please. In the event of

Thurs. June 18 - Terra Cotta Hike - +/-10 km. Meet for a 10:00 am. start where the Terra Cotta Side Trail crosses Winston Churchill
Boulevard (Map 14), roadside parking. Or car pool from Hwy 401 and Trafalgar Road
car pool parking lot at 9:15 am. There-and-back walk following the side trail. Might need

Concession West #812. When you reach #812, turn left and go to the end of the lane. An
amazing hike in the beautiful countryside. Bluebirds, Swallows and more.
Thurs. July 2 - No. 1 Side Road to City View Park - 9/10 km.
Meet for a 9:00 am. start at City View Park (south parking lot), Kerns Road, Burlington
(south of Highway 5). We will car pool to No. 1 Side Road (off Guelph Line) and hike
back using side trails and ski trails. Bring water and snack. Pace: medium. Terrain:

Meet for a 10:00 am. start at in the lower parking lot of the Crawford Lake Conservation
Area on the east side of Guelph Line, north of Derry Rd. We will carpool to the parking
lot behind the school in Kilbride and walk back. Bring a lunch, snack, lots of water,
sunscreen, bugspray. Parking fee in effect or Conservation Area Pass. Pace - Medium.

Thurs. July 16 - Dundas - 10-12 km. Meet for a 9:30 am. start in the Dundas Driving Park located at the end of Cross Street in
Dundas. We’ll meet in the east parking lot area We will go up to Dundas Peak, Tews
Falls and Websters Falls. Please bring sticks, snack, water, lunch, sunscreen and perhaps

Thurs. July 23 - Hilton Falls/Halton Agreement Forest - Approx 10 km.
Meet for a 9:30 am. start in the small parking lot on the east side of Fourth
Line/Nassagawa. Take Guelph Line north of the 401 to Number 10 Sideroad and turn
right. Follow it until it takes a hard left turn. You are now on Fourth Line/Nassagawa.
Follow it to the small parking lot on your right. There is also roadside parking. We will
carpool to Hilton Falls Conservation Area and hike back to the parking lot. Map 11.
Bring water, a lunch/snack, sunscreen and insect repellent. Pace - leisurely. Terrain -

Meet for a 10:00 am. start in the parking lot of Falgarwood Public School at the corner
of Marlbourough and Grosvenor Streets in Oakville. We will hike some of the trails in
and around some of Oakville’s lovely ravines followed by a swim at Falgarwood Pool.

Thurs. Aug. 13 - North Shore Trails, Dundas - +/- 10 km. Meet for a 10:00 am. start at the dog walking park on York Rd. beside Valley Rd. in
Dundas. We will do a loop hike of the RBG trails. Bring snack, water and sunscreen.

Thurs. Aug. 20 - Christie Lake Conservation Area - Loop Hike and Swim
9/10 km.
Meet for a 9:00 am. start at the car park on Crooks Hollow Road (1 km west of the
village of Greenville). We will hike clockwise around Christie Lake. At the beach we
will swim (optional) and have a picnic lunch. There is a parking fee for non-members.
Bring water, snack, lunch, repellent, swimsuit and towel (NOTE: there are changing
