STEWARDSHIP

Stewards Pray “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who

persecute you…” MATTHEW 5:44 Love your enemies, easier said than done, no

doubt. But, remember, the foundation of Stewardship is prayer. When we are in

close communication with God, it opens our heart and it turns our attention away

from “me” and moves it towards God and others. It allows us to have a little more

empathy for “our enemy”. When we pray for others, even “our enemies”, maybe it

softens their hearts as well.

Please Pray for Our Recently Deceased. They have gone no further from us

than to God, and God is very near.

THIS IS OUR FAITH

The SACRED that surrounds us

Incense Boat & Thurible

(also a Censer)

These are items employed in the use of incense at Mass. The boat is the

container that holds the incense before it is inserted into the thurible. The thurible

is a vessel, suspended by chains, which holds the lit charcoal on which small

spoonfuls of incense are dropped, producing fragrant smoke.

Incense is mentioned 170 times in Sacred scripture, throughout the Old & New

Testaments.

The smoke with its fragrance reminds us that during Mass, our prayers should rise

up to be joined with the prayers of the angels & saints in heaven (Revelation 8:3).

God affirms the dignity of each person & the sacredness of religious items when

the ministers incense them. Before & after being incensed, we offer expressions of

reverence & prayer through profound bows.

“The Lord said to Moses, ‘Take sweet spices, stacte & onycha, & galbanum,

sweet spices with pure frankincense (of each shall there be equal part). &

make an incense blended as by the perfumer, seasoned with salt, pure &

holy; & you shall beat some of it very small, & put part of it before the

covenant in the tent of meeting where I shall meet with you; it shall

“WHO IS MY NEIGHBOR?”

Support the 2020 House of Charity-Bishop’s Annual Appeal

www.camdendiocese.org/hoc

Jesus reminds us to love & support our neighbors in their time of need.

Through the House of Charity Bishop’s Annual Appeal, we strive to do that

throughout the six counties of the Diocese of Camden.

The HOC throughout South Jersey provides social, community & health care

services, evangelization & faith formation, youth, young adult & campus ministries,

vocation, seminarian & permanent diaconate formation, care of priests, & catholic

education.

When our parish collects its goal amount, up to 10% is returned to our parish for

our local charitable needs. Additionally, 75% of all funds received above our parish

goal will also be returned to our parish to foster charitable & ministerial work.
