Extension Irrigation Meeting tomorrow Tues. Jan 30, 2018 at 8 am at Morehead Country Store in Irwinville

Farmers Tax Guide 2017 Here is the link for the IRS Farmers Tax Guide for 2017 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p225.pdf Seeking Peanut Farmer Input Dr. Monfort is asking for our help with a project that will lead to the development of a health/risk index for peanut production. I will be asking two peanut farmers to share production information from 2017. It is only 10 questions and you can come by the office or give me a call, or I will come and see you. This should not take long. We could even do a one-on-one training afterwards. The cumulative data collected from across the Georgia peanut belt. Hopes are to compile data that will help producers with a health/risk index for peanut production based on geographic location, planting dates, varieties, row patterns, irrigation, seed source, digging dates, yields and grade.

Auxin Training Requirements – Georgia 2018

Georgia Peanut Achievement Club It is time to prepare entries for the 2018 Georgia Peanut Achievement Club (GPAC). We are expecting some very worthy entries with outstanding yields from the 2017 growing season. Fifteen winners will be chosen. One statewide winner in each of the three acre categories (100-299.9 acres), 300-699.9 acres), and (700 or more acres). There will also be one district winner from each of the four districts in each of these categories (100-299.9 acres), 300-699.9 acres), and (700 or more acres). That’s a total of 15 farmers who will be recognized at the 2018 GA Peanut Achievement Club. In the first two categories, you need to average 4000 pounds per acre or more. If you are in the third category (700 acres and above) you will need to average 3500 pounds per acre or more. Take a look at your total acres, yield, and please consider applying. We have had numerous winners from Irwin County in years past. One on One Trainings Anyone who is drives a spray rig that will be utilizing Auxin technology is required to attend a One on One Training with an Extension Agent. We will work with you to conduct these at your convenience. In addition, some other options are in the works as well. Please let me know of your interest and we will schedule this informal training with you.

As always for more information, contact your Irwin County Extension Office at (229) 468-7409. Thank You, Phillip Edwards Irwin County Agent
