I was personally involved with the integration of the US Navy’s newest Patrol Platform, the P-8 Poseidon (built around Boeing’s 737), where my responsibilities included outfitting Intermediate Maintenance Activities with the support equipment, increasing supply of “ready for issue” parts and product testing/delivery to the nation of Japan. I’ve directly supervised over 400 maintainers during my Naval service. My hands-on mentorship approach has given me a direct way to learn both the strengths and weaknesses of those on my team, enabling me to come up with creative (and often tailored) ways to further develop and hone their skill sets. I was responsible for their professional growth by tracking, evaluating and pushing them to complete their qualifications in new positions as Collateral Duty Inspectors, Quality Assurance Representatives and Phase Maintenance Managers.
