Our abundant lakes are born from the toil of the nation’s greatest ever project, the Snowy Hydro Scheme that provides energy to power the homes and industry of Australia.

Find out more! Snowy Hydro Visitor Information Centres are located across our region at: Cooma, Cabramurra along the Alpine Way near Khancoban, and at Talbingo.

For more information: snowyhydro.com.au

The Snowy Mountains is the source of the life-giving waters of Australia’s iconic rivers – Murray, Snowy and Murrumbidgee – the flows that sustain the food bowl of a nation.

The tranquil waters of Lakes Eucumbene, Jindabyne, Blowering, Talbingo, Tantangara, Tumut and Khancoban Pondages, and many others, are world renowned as a freshwater angler’s paradise. Trophy catches regularly landed include Brown, Brook and Rainbow Trout along with Atlantic Salmon, providing some of the most surprising sport fishing in Australia. Sizzling catches cook to perfection

in the cool alpine air on water-side campfires.

Vast lakes provide the perfect setting to experience the thrill of your favourite water sports for extreme family fun, or just to dive in and cool off after a nice mountain hike or bike ride.
