I Remember,The Baby Came With No Instructions! All of my life I'd had been told how important it was to keep warm by using wool. Even though both my wife and I were the youngest in our families, we knew that it was important to keep babies warm. So when wool became a problem for our first baby we were rather shocked!

Yes our baby reacted to wool on his skin! (And no that is not our baby in the picture).

The Start of our Coconut Oil Journey

Our first born baby was a boy. He developed eczema after we put a woollen helmet on him at night to keep him warm. He was born with dry skin, but there it was, overnight, a full blown skin disaster!

The skin was so bad we didn't even know what it was to start off when we first saw it.Then the memories of others in the family came flooding to us and we started to remember things people had said, and the whole dry skin journey began.

If only we'd had these seven tips back then!

We Share Our Story So Others Learn TooThe Smith Family are sharing 7 insights so other can learn too. The seven insights arebasic observations. They are extracted from a report we wrote detailing some of our observations about dry skin, and Virgin Coconut Oil.

Virgin Coconut Oil is one of the main things we use to help our bodies retain moisture, and behave as normally as possible. We know without Virgin Coconut Oil anything else we try to do to control skin irritations will be that much harder!

The 7 insights are not a set of instructions. They are simply insights. We hope you enjoy them. So turn to the next page.

The Smith Family's 7 Insights for Virgin Coconut Oil and Dry Skin

1. The first key insight is that Coconut Oil doesn't have to be spread on the skin tobenefit the skin.

2. Coconut Oil rubbed on or spread over dry skin will almost always result in skinflaking or peeling off, some time after the process begins.

3. No-one in our family has ever experienced any lasting negative effects on skin.

4. There will always be someone out there who claims that their skin had a reaction to Virgin Coconut Oil.

5. It may take up to 12 months or more of rubbing your skin before you seen any lasting improvement in the ability of extremely dry skin to retain moisture between topical treatments with Virgin Coconut Oil.

6. Skin itchiness may not go away with the application of Virgin Coconut Oil alone.

7. Oil pulling may be an effective means of using Virgin Coconut Oil to combat persistently dry skin.

So there we have it. Seven insights that we've gathered over time. Perhaps you'd like some more details on them! Of course you could head off to the internet and look up ways to use Coconut Oil, or the latest advice on using Coconut. But where can you get reliable answers to Coconut questions?

Where can you get reliable answers to Coconut questions? And how on earth do you quickly find answers even at 12.01am? When discussing coconut products with friends and family, most people have questions. That is why we created our report, “Coconut Oil and Eczema and Psoriasis”.

We'd love you to have a copy of it. It's always being expanded, and in late November 2013 it has undergone a significant expansion. This booklet is based on just one page of that report. But before we get side tracked, let's summarise.

Neil's Personal Insights aboutVirgin Coconut Oil and Itchy Skin

I now live most days (yes, and nights) with an annoying itch. Yet when I was growing up I never had itchy dry skin. Well, if you'd asked me, I'd say that while I was growing up that I didn't have dry skin.

But then as I think back I realise that I probably did have some dry skin while I was growing up, but I didn't get broken skin.

I had the itch without the brake.

Broken skin is really difficult for some people.

But lets talk about my personal insights into living with an itch, and some broken skin, and using the minimum of treatments, if possible.

This is what I do.

1. I do oil pulling with Virgin Coconut Oil every morning, and when I forget for one morning, I pay for it

2. I use Virgin Coconut Oil on my skin

3. We use Virgin Coconut Oil, Coconut Sugar, Creamed Coconut, Coconut Flour at home where ever it is possible

4. I drink a little Vinegar with water each day

5. I go to bed wearing cotton pyjamas

6. I follow a particular routine with regard to the itchy place(s) in the shower

7. If, during the day the itch is out of control I apply more Virgin Coconut Oil or drink another splash of vinegar in water

I use our hand made Milk Relief Soap™ but I'm trying to avoid using our Green Gear Balm, or Green Relief Salve. Why? Because I want to do the minimum. : )

Why we don’t sell deodorised oilCoconut Oil: why you should look for the word “virgin” when you buy Coconut Oil

If you have ever wondered what the difference is between tasteless refined coconut oil (RBD), and Virgin Coconut Oil, then you’ve thought about the very core difference between the oils we sell, and most of the oil in the supermarkets.

What makes our online shop different is our commitment to supplying only virgin oil that tastes good, and comes in bulk sizes.

The Coconut Oil on the left is Virgin, food grade oil. Nice and white, and bursting with flavour. The right hand side bottle has Coconut Oil extracted without Chemicals. It is not Virgin, and it is tasteless, yellow, and separated. It lost it’s phytonutrients in the deodorising process.

The Coconut Oil Shop is here to provide pure, “unadulterated”, virgin coconut oil. Tasteless oil is refined, we specialise in virgin oil because virgin oil needs no refining to deliver its life giving properties.

What does the Camp Coconut recommend? We recommend unrefined; Virgin Unfermented Oil, Virgin Slightly Fermented Oil, and Virgin Fully Fermented oil.

Coconut Oil Shop does not sell deodorised oil, even if it does not have chemical processing.

Hexane is the type of thing used to make RBD deodorised coconut oil in many oil plants. Neither Ceres nor Blue Coconut use chemicals (Hexane) in their processing, but they do use super high heat and steam in processing the oil.

If you haven’t yet seen our mini-course, “Which Oil?” I’d suggest you try the first lesson now. It is open to anyone to participate in.

What does the Coconut Oil Shop offer?Types of processing (a frequently asked question)Which of the oil products has the least processing applied to it?The short answer is our RAW Virgin Coconut Oil series.

The rest of the answer will be divided into two categories.

1) Coconut Oil we recommend for eating, and2) Coconut Oil we recommend only for external use, but which won't harm you if you eat itor use it internally.

Eating, oil pulling, skin and beauty, cooking and baking

• White Gold Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (picture of a table with a coconut)• Ancient Wisdom (Fermented) Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (picture of a canoe at

beach)• Sea Breeze from Tonga DME® Virgin Coconut Oil (dark blue label)

Massage, muscle restoration, joint pain, stress relief (through muscle relaxation)

• napoBIO® Massage Virgin Coconut Oil with RAW Fermented VCO and natural essential oils

• napoBIO® Suntan Oil with RAW Fermented VCO and Tiare Flower Essence • Ancient Wisdom (Fermented) Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (picture of a canoe at

All of our fermented Virgin Coconut Oils are made in a process similar to, or the same as this description. But each of them has a distinctive taste, due to the variety ofnut, and skill of the operator.

The “RAW Fermented” process:Raw Virgin Coconut Oil (Fermented Process) Oil is extracted the traditionalway, with fermentation. The extraction involves no heat, and uses gravity separation of the oil and other elements in coconut milk.

Ancient Wisdom Extra Virgin Coconut Oil producers guarantee absolutely no heat has been applied at any point in the process and the oil is heated to around 30 degrees for rebottling.

Are you looking f or hight health benefits?Buyers want the highest benefits from the least processingHere is a typical question from a buyer. "I'm looking for cold pressed, unrefined virgin oil. Which one of the bulk coconut oil range has had least processing appliedto it providing highest health benefits? "

The key to understanding the issue here is not the processing, but rather the type of processing.

All of our oil is “cold pressed”. Most of our oil is RAW. Fermented oil we sell is processed with less heat than other fermented oils. Fermented coconut oil has a reputation for being processed at higher heat than non-fermented oil. For the oil we sell at our Coconut Oil Shop, this is not the case. We don't have room to discuss all the types of processing here on this page. But for clarity, I will list them by oil type.

Oil by processing typeWhite Gold (RAW)Unfermented, extracted from ripe coconuts. Cold pressed - squeezed, processed inSri Lanka (Island at the bottom of Indian Continent). Not heated above 40 degrees. All the benefits of a truly raw wholefood revitalising oil.

Ceres (in a bag inside a bucket)Unfermented, extracted from ripe coconuts. Sun dried, and cold pressed - squeezed, processed inSri Lanka (Island at the bottom of Indian Continent).

Ancient Wisdom (RAW-extracted without heat applied)Fermented, extracted from green coconuts. Fermented over a series of days to extract the oil, and improve absorption of good acids by the body - centrifuged andbottled in Thailand after heating at low heat to improve shelf life. Never heated above tropical air temperature. All the benefits of a truly raw wholefood revitalising oil.

None of our oils have been subjected to extreme heat or steam pressure. They all retain their naturally occurring anti-oxidant phytonutrients (taste and smell).

So you can see from the oils above, there is no chemicals, no steam, no high heat.

But in answer to the question, " "I was wondering which one of the bulk coconut oil range has had least processing applied to it providing highest health benefits?"

We answer with a choice of White Gold or Ancient Wisdom and soon we'll also offer SeaBreeze From Tonga (unfermented, cold pressed).
