Each year around this time, we print an article concerning the question of celebrating a particular day as Christs birthday, which the world calls Christmas. We do this in an effort to teach the new members the truth about Christmas and to remind the older members how we should conduct ourselves during this season. Foremost, we should always let the Bible speak and be silent where the Bi- ble is silent. Paul said, “...let God be true, but every man a liar...(Romans 3:4). As Christians, we believe in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Christ. We can find references throughout the Bible in scriptures such as: Matt. 1:18-21; Luke 2:1- 13; Acts 10:36-43 and I Corinth. 15:1-4. We do not believe Christs birthday is the 25th of December. This is NOT what the Bible teaches and it was never cele- brated by the New Testament Christians (in the Bible). We are not to add or cele- brate HOLYdays not documented in the Bible (Deu. 4:2; Deu. 12:32; Prov. 305- 6; Rev. 22:18-19). Before the 5th century, there were 6 different dates of the 12 months which were an option to celebrate Christmas. This confusion shows that December 25th was not originated by God, nor taught by the Apostles. The New Testament Gospels do not give a date for the birth of Christ, and among the earliest Christians, no attempt was made to celebrate His birthday. The Bible speaks of the death, the burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. These significant events are what Jesus Christ Himself said for us to remember and celebrate (Luke 22:18-20; I Corinth. 11:23-25). This memorial is held each first day of the week (Acts 20:7) by partaking in the Lords Supper or, Communion. During this season, the world emphasizes love, joy, peace, longsuffering and goodness. For the Christian, these acts are expected of us everyday, each sea- son, all year long. Of all the mandates we are to live by, most importantly, we are to tell the lost about Christ, His Church and the plan of salvation (Matt. 16:18, 28:19-20). No, we do not celebrate December 25th as Christs birthday because it is not scriptural; however, we do show love, joy, peace, longsuffering and goodness to all mankind everyday because that is scriptural. These spiritual acts (Gal. 5:22- 23) shine as a light in darkness leading the lost to Christ; for it is His will that none should parish but that all come to repentance (II Pet. 3:9).

Is Today Christ’s Birthday?

Each year around this time, we print an article concerning the question of celebrating a particular day as Christ’s birthday, which the world calls “Christmas.” We do this in an effort to teach the new members the truth about Christmas and to remind the older members how we should conduct ourselves during this season. Foremost, we should always let the Bible speak and be silent where the Bi-ble is silent. Paul said, “...let God be true, but every man a liar...” (Romans 3:4). As Christians, we believe in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Christ. We can find references throughout the Bible in scriptures such as: Matt. 1:18-21; Luke 2:1-13; Acts 10:36-43 and I Corinth. 15:1-4. We do not believe Christ’s birthday is the 25th of December. This is NOT what the Bible teaches and it was never cele-brated by the New Testament Christians (in the Bible). We are not to add or cele-brate “HOLY” days not documented in the Bible (Deu. 4:2; Deu. 12:32; Prov. 305-6; Rev. 11:23-25). This memor ial is held each first day of the week (Acts 20:7) by partaking in the Lord’s Supper or, Communion. During this season, the world emphasizes love, joy, peace, longsuffering and goodness. For the Christian, these acts are expected of us everyday, each sea-son, all year long. Of all the mandates we are to live by, most importantly, we are to tell the lost about Christ, His Church and the plan of salvation (Matt. 16:18, 28:19-20). It is an honor to have you join us in worship at the

Northside Church of Christ! Our mission is to save

souls and to help souls stay saved. We extend our

sincere love towards you and we encourage you to take

advantage of the opportunity to have a bible study with

members who are eager to study with you. If you do not

share our like faith, this bible study, as well as your visit

today, offers a two way opportunity: (1) We have the

chance to share with you the gospel of Jesus Christ and

the essential steps to salvation. (2) You have the chance

to hear, believe, repent, confess, and be baptized where-

by being added to the Church of Christ. We welcome

you to investigate what you hear and see today. You

will be able to ask your biblical questions and receive

biblical answers that will guide you to make an in-

formed, life changing decision. Thank you for being our

special guest! Please come again.

Did You Tell Someone About Jesus?

Matt. 28:19-20 is the great

commission given to members of

the body of Christ. As Christians,

it is our responsibility to Tell,

Talk and Teach others about

Jesus. Telling someone about

Christ will often open the door to

Talk with them about Him. You

can then Teach them or invite

them to Church where they can be

taught. We encourage each Chris-

tian to take advantage of such

opportunities. If you know of a

prospect, and for some reason

cannot conduct a personal Bible

study, please give their contact

information to Bro. and/or Sis.

Oliver or to one of our Leaders.

Welcome to the Family!!
