history behind the celebration. Children

The objective of teaching ‘The festivals: Color of Life’ to 3rd and 4th Graders was to make them familiar with the different festivals which is celebrated in India, Shrilanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal. The teacher had a discussion with students to know the culture, history, food types and attire behind the celebration.
Students were taken in ICT lab to search festivals which celebrate in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Shrilanka. Children searched the information on the internet of different festivals celebrated in the neighboring countries. Children came to know how to prepare the lantern (Diyas) which is very important in the Celebration of Diwali. This festival is well known festival which is celebrated in India.
Students pasted different festivals pictures on the chart. Through this activity students’ psycho motor development also takes place while using the scissors, glue sticks, etc. Children actively and enthusiastically participated in this activity.
TEACHER’S REPORT
The teacher had read the comprehensive passage including all
the major festivals. Through this activity students’ verbal and thinking skills were developed. Children were given clay to prepare lanterns by using different shapes and color students also prepared greeting cards of different festivals & through this activity students’ creative and imaginations skill developed. Teacher conducted quiz competition which helped to test students’ knowledge of the concept which taught in the class. Through this activity children are encouraged to build the confidence.
It was concluded with the note that there are different festivals in India and neighboring counties and it helps the children to respect each other’s religion, to follow the traditions from one generation to next generation. All the history of festivals are having some science behind it i.e. according to seasons for example food, attire etc..
