Rehabilitation Committee

The ISBI Burn Rehab Committee (BRC) have made progress as follows:

1. Collation of the descriptive statistics of the worldwide burn rehabilitation

education and practices survey.

2. Subsequent to this a manuscript was drafted and circulated to the author group.

Feedback was provided and is now in revision within the BRC members. We hope

to have the paper submitted by mid-year 2016.

3. We have a large set of resources compiled to support education and training in

burn units / teams in low resource environments. We hope to be able to release

these in the next few months to support the Clinical Practice Guidelines which are

to be published in Burns.

4. We hope to progress the Burn Outreach and Rehabilitation Network (BORN) for

broader access prior to the congress in Miami. Individual burn clinicians continue

to visit low resource environments around the globe but all based on personal

contacts and introductions. The idea of the BORN is to expand these teaching and

support networks and provide easier access for clinicians in these environments

to more experienced burn rehabilitation specialists and therapists to propagate

the messages of the ISBI Clinical Practice Guidelines.
