• Muhammad the Prophet was the founder of the religion

• Mecca and Medina on the Arabian Peninsula: Early Muslim cities

• Qur’an (Koran) is holy book

• Acceptance of Judeo-Christian prophets including Moses and Jesus

1.Belief in one god; Monotheistic: Allah (Arabic word for God)

2. Pray 5 times a day

3. Give alms/charity to the Poor

4. Fast during holy month of Ramadan

5. Hajj (pilgrimage) to Mecca

This is the Ka’aba in Mecca. This is the holiest site for Muslims.

Muhammad ascended to heaven.

It is believed to be built on the spot of the second Jewish temple (which was destroyed by the Romans) so it is also a holy site to Jews.
