Science Updates

●  The science network Teacher Leads have : ●  Been asked to create a data bank for Learning Experiences

for West Ed/Assessment Committee to utilize and provide a snapshot of how the PE’s are being implemented in classrooms around the region. This allowed West Ed to give feedback to the teachers on what they were seeing as defensible evidence of implementation of 3 dimensional learning.

●  Created a network for teachers to have conversations/plan lessons/experiences with each other and share resources

●  Allowed teachers to grow from each other and have time to deconstruct the PE’s and create learning experience to accompany the deconstruct.

Science Update

●  Still to come: ●  Teachers will continue to create the bank of learning

experiences for teachers to share with other teachers to “use in whatever way they wish”.

●  Continue to inform the state about the assessment system

●  Continue to create their plan for supporting teachers within their district the remainder of this year and the following.

●  Continue the effective discussions that have been occurring and supporting professional learning for the teacher leaders as they continue to grow and develop

What does it mean to be mindful?

Mindfulness in Education: Effects On Brain

Mindfulness practice increases one’s ability to recruit higher order, pre-frontal cortex regions in order to down-

regulate lower-order brain activity

7 Things Mindful People do differently

1 Approach everyday things with curiosity – and savor them

2 Forgive their mistakes – big or small

3 Show gratitude for good moments – and grace for bad ones 4 Practice compassion and nurture connections

5 Make peace with imperfection – inside and out

6 Embrace vulnerability by trusting others – and themselves 7 Accept – and appreciate – that things come and go

In your districts...

How do we operationalize indicators of instruction from the Framework for Teaching?

How do we develop system-wide structures that use internal strengths to solve problems?

Meet with your District teams to discuss guiding questions.
