The 2019 IALC Sum m er Inst it ut e ?Many

Wor lds, One Cit y? is a unique language

immersion program that takes learning out of

the classroom and into the real world. Over

three unforgettable weeks, participants

sharpen their English language skills in an

innovative model that combines intensive

classwork with topical and interactive

excursions into the vibrant neighborhoods of

New York. Participants reinforce their learning

with hands-on experience while exploring one

of the world?s most dynamic and fascinating

hubs of creativity and multiculturalism.

Classes at the 2019 IALC Summer Institute

strengthen language proficiency and critical

thinking skills and provide first-hand exposure

to the unique participatory style of American

academia. Program participants expand

at a top-level American university.

Welcometo New York, the"Capital of theWorld"

Poised at the intersection of modernity and

tradition and the meeting point of cultures

from all over the world, New York is the ideal

language laboratory. Guided field trips and

planned excursions maximize opportunities for

participants to practice their language skills in

authentic settings. Participants visit iconic New

York sites such as the Metropolitan Museum of

Art, Liberty Island, and the United Nations, as

well as the many hidden gems that make the

city such unique place.

At Homein Midtown Manhattan

During the 2019 IALC Summer Institute

participants stay in McMahon Hall located at

Fordham?s Lincoln Center campus, very near

Central Park, Lincoln Center for the Performing

Arts, Columbus Circle, and the Hudson River.

Dorm rooms are arranged apartment-style,

some with shared kitchen facilit ies. The

neighborhood is well-lit and frequented by

both visitors and residents, making for a safe

and lively environment.

While on-campus housing provides the most

authentic taste of life as a Fordham student in

one of New York's most desirable locales, it is

not mandatory. Participants who are based in

the local area and may not need housing are

very welcome to join the program, including all

classes and excursions.

Dining at Fordham University

Located adjacent to University housing,

Fordham?s dining halls serve buffet-style meals

daily, including a menu of freshly prepared hot

selections, a salad bar, hot and cold beverages,

fresh fruit, and desserts.

Meal vouchers may be purchased for breakfast,

lunch and dinner according to the meal plans

below:

Single Module Meal Plan (10 Days)

PLAN A (full board) includes weekday breakfast, lunch and dinner vouchers plus boxed meals and group meals.

Registration Checklist

JULY 8, 2019: IALC SUMMER INSTITUTE STARTS.

APRIL - JUNE, 2019: MAKE TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS.

All participants in the 2019 IALC Summer Institute ?Living

and Learning New York? must have a tourist visa (B-2)

allowing them to enter and reside in the United States for

the full length of the program. The cost of transportation

and travel insurance and visa fees are not covered by the

tuition fee. Participants must arrange their own

transportation to and from New York and are encouraged

to book their transportation as soon as their registration

is confirmed.

APRIL 15, 2019: REGISTRATION CLOSES.

Full tuition payment must be submitted online no later

than Apr il 15, 2019. After you submit payment, the IALC

will forward you a letter confirming your placement in the

program. Once you receive confirmation that your place in

the program has been reserved, you must immediately

begin making travel and housing arrangements.

NOVEMBER 20, 2018: REGISTRATION OPENS.
