In March of 2019, Diversified Communications acquired Intersolar North America, ees (electrical energy storage) North America, and Power2Drive North America—and officially entered the solar + energy storage market. With its commitment to renewable energy and depth of tradeshow operation expertise, Diversified Communications was well positioned to unite, energize, and grow the events—reinvigorating Intersolar North America and bringing it to the forefront of the solar, energy storage, and e-mobility industries.

Held for the first time in early February in San Diego, CA, #isna2020 united thousands of solar + storage industry leaders, policymakers, trailblazers, and energy professionals for three days of education, business, networking—and fun.

The event centered around the cross-sector approach to the clean energy transition, prioritizing collaboration through everything from workshops and conference sessions to expo hall events and special pavilions. Focused on exceeding expectations for attendees and exhibitors alike, the expo floor showcased a range of solar, storage, and e-mobility technologies, featured dynamic presentations of key trends and obstacles, and celebrated industry talent in the debut Solar Games installer competition.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:

• Dynamic keynote presentations by two true solar energy leaders, David Hochschild, Chair of the California Energy Commission and Danny Kennedy, Chief Energy Officer at New Energy Nexus

• Impactful technical training with workshops run by industry leaders, including North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners and Solar Energy International (SEI)

• 25+ conference sessions on the latest technologies, policies, and market trends shaping the solar + storage industries

• Engaging show floor presentations by industry experts such as pv magazine and Wood Mackenzie, as well as trusted organizations like Solar Energy International, Cleantech San Diego, and our exhibitors

• A best-in-class expo hall featuring leading brands and emerging start-ups

• A Tuesday Night Party and multiple show floor happy hours where visitors tasted the best of San Diego while expanding business connections

WELCOME TO #isna2020

It’s increasingly important for the energy industry to work across verticals,” said Wes Doane, Event Director of Intersolar North America. “We feel strongly that events can be a catalyst for new business opportunities at the intersections of the solar, storage, and e-mobility industries.”

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2021

In March of 2020, Diversified Communications announced the acquisition of Energy Storage North America (ESNA)—growing its portfolio of events for the renewable energy industry and reinforcing its commitment to supporting the new energy economy.

This investment in energy storage was driven both by industry growth and attendee interest. Over the past two years, storage has accounted for more than 30 percent of the exhibition space at Intersolar North America; during that same period, the conference program increased the number of educational sessions to address the growing demand.

“We’re excited to add ESNA as a co-located event with Intersolar North America next year,” Doane said. “Their unification reflects the consolidation occurring across the board as the solar, energy storage, and e-mobility industries mature—and improves our competitive advantage in a fast-moving marketplace.

ISNA and ESNA attendees will now benefit through access to best-in-class content, an innovative and larger exhibition, and an ever-expanding networking platform.”

Energy Storage North America will join Intersolar North America at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, CA next January 12-14, 2021.

Every random chat I had this week involves some version of this question: “What do you think of the show? Anything standing out?” And really it was Hochschild’s presentation that I’ll remember most. It was a reminder that states have the power to change the energy future of the country if they are motivated to do so, or conversely, they can keep us stuck in the muck, awaiting the rising tides.”
