The unique voices and the virtuosic contemporary arrangements make the ensemble a rare phenomenon in the Israeli music scene. The group’s repertoire includes fresh vocal versions of well-known classical instrumental pieces, Israeli songs, folk songs in various languages, musicals, jazz and Latin music. Her photographs have appeared in newspapers, periodicals and books, including the bestseller Echoes of A Landscape (1992, MOD), which won the Gold Prize at the Jerusalem International Book Fair in 1993 and several other books. Her photographs have been displayed in exhibitions in Israel and abroad, among them the Barbican Centre in London and the Olympus Gallery in Tokyo. Amir Gwirtzman is one of Israel’s leading jazz musicians. He began his solo project Inhale-Exhale, in November 2008, performing alone on stage surrounded by 20 woodwinds, reeds, horns, pipes, flutes and percussion instruments. "The Magic of Israel, Summer in Istria" is a programme that will be held in Pula from 3 to 9 August, and which will present Israel, a country which this year celebrates its 65th anniversary of independence. The programme is organised by the Israeli Embassy in Croatia under the auspices of the County of Istria and the City of Pula, all programmes are free. Israel will be presented through concerts, Israeli food tasting and a photo exhibition. From the rich programme we would like to point out the vocal quintet Carmel A-Cappella, who will open the festival, followed by the performance of the world-famous mentalist and mind "reader" Lior Suchard. For those who love classical music, there is a string quartet Carmel and an evening of opera at the Historical and Maritime Museum of Istria at Kaštel, and dance lovers will surely enjoy the performance of the dance group Sheketak at Forum Square.

Sheketak is the joint project of extraordinary dancers and rhythm experts who in their modern, innovative choreographies unite music, rhythm and dance sequences in different styles like break-dance, step, hip hop etc.Sheketak dance group was founded in 1997 by Danny Rachom and Zahi Patish.It started with 5 members, and the first show combined live music, dance, rhythm and lots of energy. The show became an international success and its creators went on to create more shows, work for TV, theatre and live events worldwide.In 2003 Danny Rachom and Zahi Patish created Rhythm in Motion - a big show with 12 artists that combines also video art and special effects.

The Carmel Quartet, was established in 1999. In 2001 the quartet won the first prize in the Prague-Vienna-Budapest international competition in Austria. The quartet studied in Israel and abroad with the members of the Alban Berg Quartet in Cologne, with Walter Levin of the LaSalle Quartet and with members of the Amadeus, Hagen, Bartok and Janacek Quartets.The members of the Carmel Quartet have won prizes in competitions and they performed on tours in Europe and the USA, in prestigious halls such as Carnegie Hall and the Vienna Konzerthaus. The quartet has performed with internationally renowned musicians such as violinists Gidon Kremer and Nikolai Znaider, violist Tabea Zimmerman, pianists Ian Fountain and Pnina Salzman, guitarist Emanuele Segre and Cantor Alberto Mizrahi.

This concert is cooperation between the Israeli conductor Noam Zur and soloists Keren Hadar- soprano, Hila Baggio- soprano and Yuri Kissin- bass baritone and the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra. They will perform famous opera and operetta arias, as well as some songs from musicals.Maestro Noam Zur was educated in Israel, Germany and the USA. Since 2001, Zur has performed in major concert halls and with leading orchestras worldwide. Noam Zur regularly conducts in houses such as Vienna Volksoper, Bucharest National Opera & Israeli opera and orchestras in Europe, USA, South Africa and Israel. Hila Baggio studied at the Rubin Academy of Music at Tel Aviv University. Hila Baggio is one of the most successful, critically acclaimed, award-winning and sought after Israeli sopranos. She regularly performs at the Israeli Opera and frequently performs in oratorio concerts and lieder programs in many countries.Keren Hadar is a graduate of Beit-Zvi – the Academy of Performing Arts, Israel. She studied opera in Berlin in 2006-2007, funded by a special grant given to her by Maestro Daniel Barenboim. She performs with many of the best orchestras in Israel and abroad with such conductors as Barenboim, Mehta, Mazel and others. Keren is an Israel Cultural Excellence Foundation (IcExcellence) chosen artist since 2008.Yuri Kissin immigrated to Israel in 1990 and now resides in Paris. He was a member of the Paris Opera Studio and was regularly invited to sing roles in

operas such as Yevgeny Onegin, Parsifal, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Rigoletto, Macbeth and Mozart’s Masetto and Leporello in many European opera houses.

Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra is an important part of a rich and diversified cultural tradition of Dubrovnik and Croatia. The Orchestra is continuing a long and important seven-hundred-year musical tradition which started in the time of the ancient Republic of Dubrovnik (1358 – 1808).
