FESTIVAL TIME

Rockness 2013What better way to spend a weekend than in

the beautiful, natural surroundings of Lochness

listening to some thumping bass and heavy guitar

riffs? The weather wasn’t half bad either with not

a drop of rain falling all weekend and just pure

unadulterated sunshine throughout.

Thanks to all those who took part in our 8CUB

slaps comp up on the loch, got some awesome pics

of you all. Fairplay to the guy who slapped it on his

c*** and well done to Stevie for getting a policeman

with a sticker.

We started the Friday wearing the 8CUB 420 ‘X-Rated’ and listening to a bit of

Jesse Ware followed by a rousing performance from the Maccabees. Keeping on with

the indie flavour we took our place in front of the main stage to catch the Vaccines

before a massive set from Basement Jaxx, which got everyone dancing. Running

over to the dance stage we caught the last of Julio Bashmore, Battle for Middle You

pumping through the air. The first night finished on a banging set from Above and

Beyond, everyone was mashed and was ready for a bit of shut-eye before another day

of carnage.

Saturday started with an 8CUB Beanie, a cold beer and a bit of comedy from Dylan

Moran. Everyone was enjoying another perfect day on the banks of the loch, before

a nice surprise for yours truly with DJ Yoda doing a set on the main stage getting

everyone dancing in the sunshine. Steve Aoki then came out and threw everything

but the kitchen sink at the crowd (literally) in THEIR set, before Skream and

Benga smashed through the sound barrier with a rousing set. Heading back over to

the second stage Bombay Bicycle Club put on a great performance before Fatboy Slim

got everyone bouncing. We ended off the night in one of the smaller tents catching

Public Service Broadcasting before finishing with some Carl Craig.

Sunday started again down at the Comedy tent, beer in hand, where Jim Jeffries split

sides before the music started. Reverend and the Makers picked everyone up from a

sunshine/booze fuelled snooze tearing down the second stage before Temper Trap’s

Sweet Disposition acted as a homing beacon, pulling everyone towards the main

stage. Madness then stole the weekend with a magical set in the sunshine. Madeon

acted as the perfect warm-up for Plan B closing the Main Stage. We then got drunk.

Very drunk. My ‘Bear’ tee still smells of beer…
