Issue 144 – January 2021 I am guessing that a combination of the Northern Beaches and Gladys scuppered quite a few of your Christmas plans at the last minute. We were expecting 20 visitors to join us for Christmas Day and, although there were a few children who ‘did not count’, we were still way over Gladys edict of 10 visitors. But the community spirit of Bays residents came to our rescue and, without batting an eyelid, other residents took our overflow at short notice thereby ensuring none of our friends were on their own for Christmas Day. That’s one of the reasons we love living in The Bays! And so we all wait to see what 2021 has to offer. After 2020, can anything surprise us? Unfortunately a little voice inside me says, ‘Yes’ … but here’s hoping we have more surprises that are pleasant and less of those we can do without. The committee is already hoping to restart events and bring you new events to enjoy in 2021. PRESIDENT’S LETTER Gwynneth Weir President Early on in this year’s agenda is the AGM. In 2020, the AGM had to be repeatedly postponed due to COVID restrictions but in 2021, we are planning on holding it in February, the normal scheduled time. More information on this later in The Bulletin. As I write this, the rain is pouring down and it is scheduled to continue for some time to come. Not the weather we expect from summer in Australia but, on the bright side, it could help reduce the risks during this bushfire season. But let’s not become complacent – we all know the temperatures (and winds) could be soaring within a short time. So let’s all do our part to stay COVID- safe and bushfire-safe during the coming months. Wishing you happy, healthy and tranquil days in The Bays.
