From Flash Powder to flickr: The Story of Hampstead Photographic Society
This book celebrates the 80th anniversary of Hampstead Photographic Society, one of Britain’s oldest amateur camera clubs, and charts its journey through the massive changes in photography since it was founded in 1937. That year it was estimated that 250 million photographs would be exposed - “95% successfully”. Now, an estimated 96 million images are shared every day on Instagram: amateur photography has never been so easy or so popular. The story of Hampstead Photographic Society unfolds against the cosmopolitan background of North London’s arts community and reflects all its diversity Photographs have become the lingua franca of social media, while camera clubs still help people improve their skills, and provide a place to share their passion for photography.
The paperback book is for sale on Amazon.co.uk for £19.99, but until Friday 15 December you can buy it for £16.47. (It is eligible for Amazon free delivery.) You can buy it at - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1548756296/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1512498765&sr=8-1&keywords=flash+powder+to+flickr

I visit many club & run workshops and many people ask, “do you have a book?’ Now I have! It is a great record of my work over the last few years. The Book contains over 60 of my favourite creative images, some simple and some more complex including many award winners.
The cover was an easy choice as it gained a Judges Award and a very special award from the Gallery Staff of some very exciting papers. at The Master of Print at the Robert Burt Gallery, London.

The Awards for Photographic Merit Adjudication in Colchester and the Masters of Print Exhibition in London have really stretched the resources of your editor and others who are heavily involved in both. As a result, we are not able to compile the photographs from the APM for this issue but they are Coming Soon.
