Issue 2 20th February 2020
During Week 1 of this term, we held our annual student leaders camp. This was held at the Point Peron Camp School and had 14 students in attendance. The focus of the camp was to provide an opportunity for
the students to develop a variety of skills to assist them in their roles in 2020. These skills included communication skills, the ability to work and lead a team, co-operation skills and the importance of building
trust within a team. We would like to officially introduce our 2020 student leaders to the Endeavour Schools’ community:

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members, Our students have made a great start to the year and are settling into their class routines. It has been great to see the high level of respect amongst our students in the school playground– keep up the great work! Our Year 3 - 6 students have commenced their swimming lessons and have been positive role models for Endeavour Schools at the pool. Supervision in the Mornings Children arriving to school before 8.00am are not supervised by an adult. We ask that you do not send your child to school before this time; however if you do need before school care please contact YMCA Endeavour who can provide supervised care from 6:30am in the morning. Thank you for supporting us in the duty of care of our students. Just a reminder that the bell to indicate the start of teaching time goes at 8:35am each morning. School Dress Code The school dress code has been endorsed by the school board. Our school dress code includes blue school polo shirt, black shorts / skirt / skort,/ pants, suitable footwear for school (i.e. school shoes, runners, enclosed sandal) and a broad brim hat. If your child does not have a broad brim hat at school they will have a restricted area they can be in. Please can you ensure your child has a broad brim school hat so they can participate fully in all activities. You can purchase one from our uniform shop or front office for $12. The only jewellery a student may wear is a watch, sleepers / studs in the ears and cultural/ religious items that have the written approval of the Principal – please keep all other items of jewellery at home for students to wear outside school hours. Voluntary Contributions I would like to say thank you to all our parents who have paid their voluntary contributions already this year… you are amazing! Last year Endeavour Schools only received 30% of student voluntary contributions, which has a significant impact on our budget. It would be great if we can raise that percentage in 2020. I think $1.40 a week is outstanding value for the excellent education your child receives at Endeavour Schools. School Board Our current community representative, Sharon Lamont, is stepping down and I would like to thank her for her contributions to the school board. We are now seeking two parent (1 x primary, 1 x ESC) and one community representatives to join the school board. If you are interested in assisting us to further develop our school into the future please consider nominating. A nomination form is attached to this week’s newsletter. If you would like any further information about the roles and responsibilities of school board members please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to answer your questions.

Dear Parents and Caregivers, We’ve had a busy start to this year so far but our students are coping well and I am so proud of the way they have settled into their classrooms and are hard at work every time I visit their classrooms. Well done to everyone for their role in making this happen. Seesaw is now up and running in all our classrooms and we use this form of communication for all our families throughout the year for class messages, curriculum progress updates, celebrations and events as well as for daily communication between home and school. I encourage everyone in your family to join in so that you can all have access to what we do at school every day. Please see your classroom teacher if you are having any difficulties logging in or joining the class groups and they’ll help you out. This year we will be having our ESC Swimming Carnival at Aqua Jetty in Term 1 on Wednesday, 18th March. Aqua Jetty will only be available for swimming carnivals in Terms 1 and 4 but the pool we use will be closed for renovations in term 4 so we can only go in Term 1 – which is great for us because the weather should still be warm! So book the date in to come along and cheer our swimmers on. During the day we may come and ask you to help us hand out the ribbons so that you can be poolside for all the action. Notes with all the details will come home in the coming weeks. We hope to see everyone there! Warnbro Community High School ESC will be visiting for a Parent Information Session on Wednesday, 4th March. We invite all parents of Years 4, 5 and 6 students to come along and see what Warnbro CHS ESC has on offer for high school in your child’s future. By the beginning of Term 2 each year all Year 6 parents are asked to decide which high school their child will be attending for Year 7 and we do this because we work closely with the school of your choice around transition to high school starting at the end of Term 2 and continuing on throughout the rest of the year. It’s intensive but it is proven to be of great benefit for our students in learning everything they need to know about their next school. So please join us if you’d like to see what Warnbro have to offer for high school. School Bus applications – if you live within the Endeavour ESC bus zone and you’d like your child to catch the School Bus then now is the time to apply! You will need to apply on-line with School Bus Services at https://www.schoolbuses.wa.gov.au It takes about 2-3 weeks for applications to be assessed so now is a great time to apply if you are interested. If you require any more information or assistance, please let us know in the office or give us a call on 9524 5000. That’s all for now,
Jayne Gorbould - ESC Principal

Chaplain News
Zones of Regulation
Hallo Endeavour schools` community, Happy new year. I hope 2020 will be a year full of successes, joy and togetherness for everyone. I have had the opportunity these past holidays to listen to our YouthCare chaplaincy CEO speak about being Peacemakers. I want to encourage every student, staff and parent to strive to be peacemakers in their own everyday lives. Whether it is in the classroom with your classmates, at work with your colleagues or at home with your families, we can all be peacemakers. So let us choose to make decisions that will create peace and love for the people around us. I am happy to be the school chaplain at Endeavour Schools once again this year. Important notices: My working days for 2020 – Mondays,
Thursdays and Fridays. Colouring Club – Every Thursday at Lunch in
the Library. Quiz Club – Every Friday at Lunch in the library. Parent/Carer Connect – Come have a coffee

At Endeavour Schools we use the program Zones of Regulation to help our students to understand and manage their
emotions. The program groups emotions into four colour zones – blue, green, yellow and red. The focus is on helping
students to identify what zone they are in (i.e. emotion they are feeling) and equipping them with strategies to help manage
this emotion. The strategies are designed to help students move back to the green zone (i.e. ready to learn zone).

Endeavour Schools have EFTPOS facilities available in the front office.
Parents are encouraged to make payments in advance for any future expenses such as swimming lessons, incentivals and excursions.
These payments will be held as credit in your child’s account and then allocated against events as they occur.
Payment can be made by cash, EFTPOS or direct deposit. When making payment via EFT, please use student’s name as the reference. Credit card payments can be made over the phone as well as in the office.
A change to our payment plan policy will mean that all incursions / excursions will need to be paid IN FULL before
the due date otherwise your child may not be eligible to attend.
If you require any more information, please see the front office.
