Godrej has been building heavy capacity forklifts from 12 to 25 tonne capacity for several years. Most of these forklifts serve in the demanding working environment of ports and steel plants. This series of big forklifts gained us the experience and a platform to expand into another equally demanding application – empty container handling (ECH) forklifts for ports and Inland Container Depots (ICDs).

Godrej Launches Empty Container Handler Forklifts

Dominated by European and American brands till date, Godrej is the first Indian forklift truck manufacturer to develop its own container handlers with indigenous engineering and technology.

Robustness of the equipment, powerful drive train and hydraulics, high level of ergonomics and safety besides an attractive total cost of ownership are the essentials a container handler has to meet. The new Godrej ECH was designed to meet these objectives.

The machine features an exceptionally robust all-welded chassis and a rigid mast built from heavy sections to provide a rugged, extremely durable and exceptionally stable platform for efficiently lifting and stacking containers up to the fifth level.

A modern, clean-running diesel engine, an advanced auto-shift transmission, robust drive axle and high performance, maintenance free wet disk brakes result in a solidly robust, energy efficient and very reliable drive train to maintain high levels of productivity and safety even while working at the fastest possible pace.

The elevated driver cab offers outstanding visibility in all directions, vital for safe handling and fast operations. While the forklift controls are arranged within easy reach of the operator, the spreader

controls are mounted on the armrest of the operator’s seat. This significantly improves productivity of operations.

Options include an air conditioned operator cab for comfort over long working hours and electronic joystick control of spreader functions.

The spreader attachment is designed for high density stacking of containers and is carefully integrated with the electrical and hydraulic system of the forklift to guarantee safety of operations and prevent incorrect functions while handling containers.

The first Godrej ECH forklift is already in service. To know more about how our Empty Container Handling Forklifts can profitably benefit your operations, please contact your nearest Godrej branch.

Godrej Dock Levelers for a hassle free loading bay! Most warehouses have loading bays for lorries to back up to for loading and unloading goods. Since different types of lorries have different floor heights and the weight of goods also affects the height of the lorry’s floor, there is usually

the question of how to bridge the gap between the lorry and the warehouse floor. The difficulty is accentuated if you want to use material handling equipment to expedite loading / unloading operations at the warehouse loading bay.

One device overcomes the issue of bridging the gap and height difference between the loading bay floor and the goods carrier vehicle – the Dock Leveler. This equipment is fitted to each loading bay of the warehouse. Hydraulically operated, it can be raised or lowered to meet the varying floor heights of different goods delivery vehicles. Many dock levelers also have a hydraulically extendible surface and a lip to precisely meet and match the lorry’s floor.

Godrej Dock Levelers for a hassle free loading bay!

Constructed from heavy steel plates and sections, it is strong and robust enough to carry the dynamic load of a forklift moving with a loaded pallet. Protection given to the electrical equipment allows the Dock Leveler to work in all types of weather, dry and wet.

Expanding our range of solutions for customers who own or operate warehouses, Godrej introduced a series of Hydraulic Dock Levelers. Our analysis of the market and

usage patterns showed that most users prefer to load and unload lorries (or containers) using forklifts with capacities up to 3 tonnes. A few users who work with heavier loads also use 5 tonne forklifts for this task. We therefore launched the first two models of Dock Levelers with capacitiesof 9 and 12 tonnes to

cover these user requirements.

Godrej Dock Levelers come with the promise of efficient after-sales service. We also offer operations and maintenance training for our Dock Levelers to ensure users gain the maximum benefit and up-time.

Setting the Pace: The most advanced Turret Stock Pickers from Crown A turret stock picker can be called the ‘efficiency master’ of warehouse operations. It is a VNA (Very Narrow Aisle) equipment, working in aisles just 1.6 m (5¼’) wide. Its unique man-up capability (the operator rises up with the forks) is designed specifically for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking systems besides handling full pallets as well. Its unique feature is that its forks are mounted on a specially designed mast that allows the forks to be directed 900 to either

side of the forward direction. While the truck runs straight in the aisle, the forks can work in the racks on either side of the aisle.

Crown’s most technologically advanced Turret Stock Pickers meet the challenges of boosting warehouse efficiency and ensuring the utilization of every cubic meter of space while continuing to push the limits of performance, energy efficiency, lift height, and load capacity.

Crown’s TSP 6000 series with lift heights up to 11.7 meters has already built an iconic position for itself in the market, offering unbeatable performance and reliability for standard duty applications.

Among its many class leading features, is its unique, patented box type mast construction. This design makes the mast extremely rigid and safe especially when traveling and working at extreme heights. It also provides a far cleaner

construction compared to other mast types that use additional stiffeners and tie bars to bolster rigidity.

We are happy to introduce two more models that expand the envelope of Turret Stock pickers like never before.

The new 48V TSP 6500 series offers faster lift speeds, lift heights up to 13.5 metres and heavier lifting capacities. And it delivers this performance with lower energy consumption thanks to a new feature called regenerative lowering, that converts the potential and kinetic energy of the lowering mast into

In recent years, the forklift hiring market in India has expanded with growing awareness about the benefits of hiring equipment instead of outright purchase. Let’s review some pointers that would help you choose between the options of hiring and purchase.

Here are the top five reasons for hiring material handling equipment:

electrical energy. This is the Turret Stock Picker for demanding, fast paced applications.

The new 80V TSP 7000 series offers the ultimate in performance with 0.61 m/sec main lift speed and lift heights exceeding 17 metres. Regenerative lowering and higher battery capacities deliver longer run time while the lifting capacity of up to 1500 kg means more storage flexibility even at higher height.

Our nearest Godrej branch will be happy to assist you with more details on which Turret Stock Picker is the most suitable and beneficial for your operations and investment budget.

Buy or Hire? The ultimate lift-truck conundrum solved right here!

1. Your monthly expenditure on material handling is fixed. Hiring provides you the advantage of setting your budget with the knowledge that unexpected maintenance or repair costs need not be considered.

2. You do not tie up your capex budget with material handling equipment; instead you can use it to build capacity in your core business

3. Hiring can ensure that you operate with an optimum fleet size suiting various production levels or seasons. It provides you the flexibility of adding or removing equipment from your fleet without risking significant capital losses.

4. Your in-house maintenance function focuses on your core production machinery and you do not need to build skills, competencies,

management or inventories for maintaining your lift trucks. The hiring service provider does all this for you and guarantees a mutually agreed level of equipment availability.

5. Hiring provides you the flexibility of switching from one type of material handling equipment to another when your requirements or processes change.

5

Looks like a fairly strong case for hiring! Now let’s look at some advantages of outright purchase of lift trucks. The top five are:

1. Within the present taxation structure, the overall cost of owning capital equipment is lower than hiring if you are prepared to make the initial capital investment

2. Once purchased, you eliminate the hassle of monthly paperwork and record keeping normally associated with hired equipment

3. The equipment is yours to sell at any time. You can easily recover a part of the investment, which can be quite substantial if the equipment has been used and maintained well and/or sparingly

4. It is the easiest and the quickest way to source equipment to meet your material handling needs, especially if the equipment involved is of relatively small unit value

5. If you already have a well developed general maintenance function, it makes economic sense for it to manage the material handling equipment. Besides utilizing available resources, the response time of an in-house team would be the least.

We hope that helped. Whatever you choose – hiring or purchase, Godrej is just a phone call away to meet your needs. Do get in touch with our nearest Godrej branch and we will be happy to assist.
