The King’s Chronicle March/April2020
Issue 2
We are living in unique times with global challenges affecting us all.
As a Christian community may we continue to look to God, asking Him to empower
us to bring His hope and peace to our world that is threatened by panic.
May we remain steadfast in our faith in Jesus Christ.
A massive thank you to all
who supported us during
teacher entrepreneur day!
The day was a big success
and all proceeds will be going
into the revamping of our
bathrooms. We look forward
to unveiling them in term 2.

Our 2020 Sprayathon at school was a colourful success. With
their donation and a cupcake in hand, the learners who
participated walked around the school with pride, showing off
their freshly sprayed hair.
The Shavathon took place at Victory Park Shopping Centre and
saw many people, including some of our Gr10 gents and Mrs
Buys, shaving their hair off to show support for cancer fighters.
Our Gr10s raised over R19 000 for CANSA and CHOC!
A special thanks to the Gr10s and their teachers and the
community service team who sprayed, shaved and baked their
hearts out for this cause.

TRINITY FESTIVAL
Spectator Stands around the top field,
netball courts and swimming pool
We have been working hard to uplift our sports facilities and are very excited
about our new improvements. Our next step will be to have sufficient seating for
spectators. We are offering parents, companies and individuals the opportunity to
participate in this vision by means of sponsorship and/or donations for
stands/seating around the field, courts and/or pool. In return we will gladly display
names of donors on the stands as a token of our appreciation.
Herewith the details as to how you can get involved and help:
• By making a donation to the school, you will be contributing to the betterment
of the sport area.
• Your name (example: Sponsored by the Spencer family/company name 2020)
will be added on a plaque.
• The donation will be R5 000.00 per stand and after proof of payment is
received, the stand will be purchased and the plaque added.
We thank you in anticipation for sponsorships and trust that our partnership will
grow from strength to strength. We look forward to hearing from you.
Please direct all enquiries to Mrs Lynné du Plessis.
E mail: [email protected].
With sincere appreciation and gratitude.

AMAZINGsponsorship opportunity
Following on from identity, prejudice
was at the core of our History
lessons this term.
Why would a topic like prejudice be
so central to our discussions in
class?
It was prejudice that planted the
seeds of inequality, giving rise to
the thoughts of superiority above
others.
Prejudice was the gun that carried
the bullets of discrimination.
Prejudice in action is:
_Slavery.
_Colonisation.
_Eugenics.
_Forced sterilization.
_Genocide.
_Dictatorship.
_Sexism.
_Racism.
_It's World War I.
_And World War II.
_It's what fueled Hitler's fire.
_It laid the foundation for the bricks
of a wall in Berlin.
_And Mexico.
For their final term mark, our Gr9s
had the task of building a 3D model
that reflected symbols of prejudice.
It could be anything as long as the
symbolism is clear.
To say I was blown away is an
understatement. Their concepts of
prejudice and the stories behind
them moved me to tears.
Police brutality. The Ku Klux Klan.
LGBTQ. Religious groups fighting.
Standards for women. Black
women's hair.
Topics that I anticipated and topics I
never saw coming. Each and every
one of them presented something
significant. Something I could see
touched them.
And this is why we do these
activities. To make young people
realize that the past serves as a
game plan for the future. It shows
us how choices and consequences
change the course of our lives.
And how we can choose different to
avoid the same mistakes.
What a privilege to see these young
minds awaken. What a privilege to
be taught by them.
~A proud History teacher~
“Honourable Member”
by Jordana G. Capela
Julius, oh Julius
You make me so curious
Once a great leader being oh so useful
Now a wanna be commie oh you’re delirious
You run around in red berets
Oh, what a gaze
Saying bring back the land-er
But, you’re just a pander
Michael B. Jordan in the MCU
Did it better than you
Want to distribute the resources
Then give away your horses
But Julius, oh Julius
Never become serious
For your honourable fights
Make my nights
Wait… I need to retract
To stay intact.
You are the hundred and forty million thousand
to my Zuma,
The sprits sprits to my doom-aaa.
Like boers to bare feet,
We are a package deal like white folk and bleach.
I think about you like the government thinks
about load shedding,
But unlike our electricity our love will be forever
blazing.
We can be stuck together like the glue of a wig
to my head,
Or like a moth to a lamp shed.
Asseblief my liefie, ek is baie lief vir jou,
Our love can be thick, like a black women’s dough.
- Vongai Sibanda -
You’ve found South Africa when you get the power,From curing your sicknesses by washing in the shower.
You’ve found South Africa finding your way,When all you can buy is milk at Pick 'n Pay.
You’ve found South Africa, our beautiful land,When the matrics at school are just dull and bland.
You’ve found South Africa of them all,When the ex-president's brain is... Oh so small?
You’ve found South Africa when you see her bail,From putting her child on Gumtree for sale.
You’ve found South Africa when it’s time to braai,Watching the rugby, ready to cry.
You’ve found South Africa in the end,When everything you need is for sale on the bend.

Poems for South Africa – by Matrics
Dear South Africa, This is our Version of a Love poem, by The Government and the ANC
Our nights consist of candelight dinners.Accompanied by the sweet, low buzz of generators in the background.
We kiss and cuddle unprotected at night;though we may wake up with a fright,we know and remember we can cure our impurities with a hot shower.
Your wealth is used for my luxury.Oh how you spoil me with grand gestures of mansions and Ferrari's!
Though our love is expressed at a 15%,do not fear my love for it shall soon be at a 17%.

The Guardian Panic Button
We are excited to announce the development and release of a brand new feature on
The Guardian Anonymous Reporting App, called “The Panic Button”.
How Does it Work?
• Any person registered for this feature, will have to select at least 3 contacts
(ie. phone numbers and email addresses of the people you are wanting to receive the
information when the panic button is pushed)
• When the panic Button is pushed, the phone’s cameras, and speakers are activated
• The contact people who you selected to receive the information will receive an SMS
notification with a link, as well as an email notification, and the following information
will be shared from the phone on which the panic was triggered:
Picture
Audio
Location
• The Contact people will continue to receive updated information every 30 seconds
How to Register?
• If you have the app on your phone already, go into your profile information
and tick the box “Enable Panic Button”
• If you do not have the app on your phone, download the app
and click “Enable Panic Button” when you register.
• The Panic Feature has an activation fee of R129.00 per year
We encourage that a child registers with their parent’s/Guardian’s email addresses
and if possible, a local emergency response company. The provision of three different email
options allows for a local response unit to be at the scene but most importantly, parents are
alerted immediately.
Wash your hands frequently
Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them
with soap and water.
Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills
viruses that may be on your hands.
Maintain social distancing
Maintain at least 1 meter distance between yourself and anyone
who is coughing or sneezing.
Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose
or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the
droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.
Basic protective measures against the coronavirus
The Coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak has become a serious reality for many
countries across the world. COVID-19 is still affecting mostly people in China,
however some outbreaks have been reported in other countries. Most people who
become infected experience mild illness and recover, but it can be more severe
for others.
We take the health of every learner, parent and staff member very seriously and
would like to ensure all are aware of the importance of taking the needed
precautions to take care of their health and protecting that of others.
At the school we have provided hand wash and hand sanitizer and would like to
encourage everyone to do the following:
