Around The RoomThere’s nothing more cosy than a roaring fire in the winter, if your venue has a fireplace make sure you specify you want it lit for your wedding. You can also add to the cosy winter feel by using more candles as well as wooden tree stumps and tree slices around the venue. If your ceremony room is suitable you could line the aisle with these too.

On The TablesCreate a warm glow to your guest tables with the use of candles, lots of candles. Whether you choose tea light holders, candle sticks or hand decorated jam jars the candle light will add warmth to your tables. To keep a rustic winter style include natural elements in your décor, you could use pine cones for your place card holders, or place a sprig of fir on each guests place settings. For a more DIY style you could stamp a sprig of fir on to guests place settings or favour envelopes.

Favours That Keep You WarmKeep your guests feeling cosy with your choice of favours. You could get crafty and make individual mocha mixes presented in a test tube! Or offer guests pashminas or blankets to help themselves to if they are feeling cold – especially if you are having entertainment outside.

Warm RefreshmentsInstead of a candy buffet or dessert table have you thought of a hot chocolate bar, I love this idea! For more ideas, visit www.weddingofmydreams.co.uk

We have worked with The Carriage Hall for many years and can shout about their amazing venue and fantastic service

until we are blue in the face. So, we felt it was time to introduce the lovely team behind this stylish wedding venue – the dream team who make it all happen:

Mel – Sales Manager In the midst of planning her own big day which will take place in 2016, Mel understands only too well how much planning and organising a wedding day can take! With over twenty years’ experience, Mel’s warmth and ‘can-do’ approach coupled with a focus on the finer details ensures her couples enjoy the absolute best experience from the moment they step through the doors at The Carriage Hall. When Mel’s not working she can be found spending time with (and spoiling!) her little grandson, Toby.

Jenna – General Manager Having grown with the Perkins Family business for over twelve years, Jenna’s operational know-how and irrepressible upbeat attitude is second to none. Jenna works with energy and professionalism to ensure that each and every couple who get married at The Carriage Hall enjoy the day of their dreams. Having spent time working at their sister restaurant, Escabeche in West Bridgford, Jenna has returned to oversee both Perkins Restaurant and The Carriage Hall. Aside from managing the venues Jenna also loves spending time with couples and helping plan their big day with care and meticulous attention to detail. A food lover, Jenna enjoys nothing more than a fine dining experience with great food, wine and company!

Deborah – Assistant Events Manager Having moved from the South to the East Midlands, Deborah is a natural people person who loves chatting to couples and getting to know them and their wedding plans. With an organised mind and a keen eye for detail, Deborah works tirelessly to ensure that each and

every couple who choose to enjoy their day at The Carriage Hall can relax safe in the knowledge that their wedding will be planned and carried out to perfection. Heather – Front of House Supervisor Heather has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry and looks after every guest at The Carriage Hall to ensure they enjoy an exceptional experience. Nothing pleases Heather more than to see a smiling bride and groom on their wedding day with guests mingling and chatting, the wine flowing and The Carriage Hall team carefully and efficiently working the floor to ensure everyone is happy. A mother of one, Heather’s time away from work is spent at home with her little girl.

Paula – Office Manager Paula has worked at The Carriage Hall since becoming a mum and now, with two children at school, she looks after all things money related. From paying bills to invoicing and keeping on top of all the paperwork, you’ll hear from Paula when your bill is due!

We chose Hodsock Priory as we feel it has that perfect magical, fairytale, country feel, the tranquil setting, the fact

that it looks like a castle with its Tudor gatehouse as a welcoming entrance, grounds with woodland offering romantic walks, a quirky summerhouse and an Italian terrace, creating endless opportunities for amazing photographs.

The interior of Hodsock Priory was just as perfect! What also attracted us to Hodsock Priory was its exclusivity, so we wouldn’t have to worry about sharing our wedding with another wedding party! The moment we stepped into Hodsock Priory, we immediately fell in love with it, nothing we had seen could compare with this stunning and oh so special place! It was a no-brainer to pick the theme as we had travelled around the world

and visited 20 countries together in our four-year relationship. So we had a vintage travel theme with a natural, rustic boho chic style. We collected lots of glass jars with the help of both sets of parents for the tables. Chris, my mum and I decorated these jars alternately with ribbon; jute string, raffia and wicker hearts then Kay added the flowers.

I also collected large glass coffee jars from work, filled them with pebbles collected from a beach near Chris’s family’s regular seaside place; they were perfect for the table names! We had each table named after some of our favourite countries and instead of just writing them out, I made a country outline template then Chris cut it out in plywood using a jigsaw. For each table, we sourced wooden candle lanterns and photo frames from different places.

We love candle lanterns as they evoke warm memories of our travels we felt they gave an enchantingly calm atmosphere. For the ladies, we presented them with stainless steel heart spoons and for the men, antique key bottle openers. We wanted to make most props to give our day more of a personal touch. Chris made the illuminated LOVE marquee letters, a wooden wedding postbox, wooden hanging hearts for the aisle which we alternated with bunches of gypsophila and a rustic wooden signpost which depicts some of the countries we had visited was placed on the lawn, giving photo opportunities for guests.

We added family wedding photographs of our parents and dear departed grandparents and had decorations to tie in with the vintage travel theme such as a magnetic world map used for our table plan, wooden world map lined suitcase, a world map photo frame with our engagement photo in it and C & S letters covered with world map paper. We also had two wooden step ladders – the large one which we painted made a lovely decoration at the entrance, with flowers cascading down the steps, with a bicycle on the top one to represent us (we got engaged whilst out cycling) and a rustic handwritten painted welcome sign. We even borrowed a vintage globe from Hodsock Priory for our ceremony table. We wanted to arrive at

Hodsock Priory in style with the continuing travel theme in mind, so we hired Harry, a beautifully restored VW campervan from Vintage Volks Weddings. It was reminiscent of our road trips in Australia and New Zealand!

Jo and Simon at Shoot Lifestyle were our photographers on the day. We discovered them on Google and admired their blog which showed photographs of a couple whose wedding also took place at Hodsock Priory. We loved their natural and candid style and felt the photographs oozed freshness of colour, with lots of close up shots, which were also so important to us!

Although the day flies by so quickly, make sure you have time for each other and if you are not having a receiving line, circulate between your guests between meals like we did, it makes them feel appreciated. If you want a creative first wedding dance, it’s worth investing in a few dance lessons to build up your confidence and learn your moves, like we did. We wrote our own promises for the ceremony as we wanted our wedding to be more personal, meaningful and unique. If you wish to do the same, make sure you leave plenty of time to think and write.”

Leanne, owner of the White Room set about creating a photo shoot which demonstrated the next step we take

when embarking on the wonderful journey of marriage.

Here, stylist Liz talks us through what inspired the shoot:

“We wanted to explore a photo shoot that worked around the concept of doors. This connected nicely with the name “The White Room” and also provided a consistent thread to link the different looks and styles we worked with. We selected specific doors based on their character and paired it with a beautiful dress, extending the character of the shot through props and poses. Doors have rich symbolism and have long being used in stories and folklore. They hold potential and represent the transition from one place to another both physically and metaphorically. We often talk of opening new doors, finding new discoveries and new potential, and this has great synergy with stepping through the doors of The White Room to find the most significant dress you will ever wear.

In some instances - doors are representative of the unknown, and when you step through the doors of The White Room you might just find the dress you had always dreamed of, or perhaps something unexpected that takes you in a new and wonderful direction!”

With thanks to; Mad Philomena, Samantha Hook Photography, The Flower Mill, Make Up By Jenni, Donna Rhodes Hair Stylist, Blake Models, Spencer Architectural & Dresses - Augusta Jones So, why not pop and see Leanne at her gorgeous boutique; with her stunning collections of bridal wear, hair adornments and bridesmaids dresses, you and your bridal party can relax and enjoy a cup of tea and cake whilst soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying your special experience.

What made you decide to become a photographer?I often hear photographers describe how they picked up their

first camera at the age of 10, never put it down, and followed their passion from day one. I envy those people. Photography for me started as a hobby. One that I quickly grew to love, and one day I decided I needed to do full time. Between then and now I’ve studied with the some of the best wedding photographers from all over the world, and I never stop learning about photography. I love the endless possibilities that it allows.

Describe your style of photography?I call myself a Creative Documentary Wedding Photographer, and there are two things that are important to me when I photograph weddings. Beautiful creative portraits, and real moments between people. Why creative? Because I love to experiment. I don’t want your wedding photographs to look exactly the same as every other bride that was married at the same venue. Wedding photography shouldn’t be a process of recreating the same safe shots that have been taken at every other wedding that was at the same venue. It should be creative, and it should be unique to you and your wedding day.

What do you love most about photographing weddings?People. It’s all about the people. You can have the most amazing cake, the grandest venue, and the fanciest lighting, but nothing matters more to me than photographing the people and relationships at a wedding. The moments that happen between people on a wedding day are really special, and one of the things I love the most is that you never know when the most tender, the funniest, the sweetest, or the happiest moments are going to take place. Although there are the obvious big events during a wedding day, like the first kiss or the throwing of the confetti, some of my favourite moments are the ones that happen in between those events. Perhaps it’s when a bride sees her Gran for the first time after the ceremony, or when one of

the speeches really strikes a cord. Those beautiful moments are the reason I do wedding photography, and I want to tell the story that they are part of in the most powerful and creative way possible.

What three things or personal items could you not live without? My camera - I know. It’s an obvious choice. But give me a camera and something to photograph and I’m happy. Freddie - He’s my puppy. He’s 4 months old, very energetic, and utterly adorable. My wife Catherine - I can’t even begin to put why into words. www.pete-henderson.com 07736 299858 [email protected]

It’s 11:30pm, we’re covered in glitter, there’s paper bits in my hair and Charlotte has tape on her chin. Must be another couple who

tried to make their own wedding stationery and it’s gone horribly wrong and yes, we’ve swooped in at the last minute to save the day.

Not that there is anything wrong with making your own invitations, nor are we claiming to be some sort of stationery superheroes....but you might just be surprised. We are Tina and Charlotte, creative junkies and founders of Susie Said.

Susie Said was born in 2011 after a relentless search for wedding invitations for Tina’s own wedding. ‘’They needed to be personal, say something about us as a couple and be unique! After all, it would be the first thing of my meticulously planned wedding my guests would experience!’’

We like to think of the stationery we create to be your ‘Personality on Paper’. A first glance of what your big day is all about, said beautifully to reflect you both. We offer you the option of a completely bespoke design and also offer a range of designs that can be tweaked and personalised in many ways! All of our invitations and stationery come with your own personal monogram and can be made in any

colour. You can have anything you like on the front of our personally designed RSVP postcards, and when we get to know you a little bit, we always like to offer suggestions of additional touches that make every item we produce individual to you. It’s these personal details that make your guests really know it’s from you both and sets the tone for your big day perfectly. We believe everything about your wedding day should be as personal as possible, from Save the Dates, Table Plans and Thank You Cards. From the first word to the very last tiny detail, they should all have your personal stamp.....and the nicest part, it doesn’t have to be as complicated or as expensive as you might think. But like Susie said, nothing wrong with making your own invitations, especially if you are creative superheroes! But if you’re not, we can help your guests think you are.... If you’d like?

The Priest House Hotel stands proudly in some of Derbyshire’s most idyllic countryside, set on its own

private driveway overlooking the banks of the River Trent.

As one of the only wedding venues in Derbyshire and Leicestershire to offer exclusive use weddings, you cannot find a more romantic backdrop for your fairytale wedding.

Wedding coordinators work hard to provide a unique experience which builds strong relationships with their couples, leaving a lasting impression on our brides and grooms to ensure the journey doesn’t stop after the wedding day itself, but continues for many anniversaries ahead!

Here, one of our recent brides Kerrie talks about her experience at the Priest House;

“We booked our wedding in November 2012, 2 years in advance, at the Priest House Hotel, after looking at 3 or 4 other venues prior to this and we both immediately fell in love with it. The beautiful setting and the intimate feel about The Priest House was exactly what we were both looking for. And we always got such a warm welcome from the staff. Over the 2 years from booking our wedding and our wedding day arriving, we went to the Priest House on a number of occasions, for meetings, lunch, wedding fayres etc and every time we were there we got the same lovely and relaxed feel.

Quite a few of us stayed at the hotel on the Friday evening, and we had exclusivity of the hotel on our wedding day so made use of all of the rooms on the Saturday evening. Each and every one of our guests have mentioned how lovely the rooms were. Along with the rooms, I only have great things to say about all of the food, and our wedding breakfast and evening buffet was all beautiful and the service was

second to none! All of the children were also catered for brilliantly. We truly had the best day, from start to finish. And I feel so envious of couples with an upcoming wedding at The Priest House Hotel, if we could relive our day every Saturday, we would. And we would choose ‘our beautiful venue’ over and over again! The only negative comment I have is that each time I go back I will feel so sad that our day is over....maybe vow renewal each year...

I honestly can’t thank Helen and everyone at the hotel enough for making our wedding day so perfect!”

Kerry has been involved with the floristry industry for over 20 years, and over the last few years, Tineke was born. Having

worked extremely hard over the years, Kerry and the team are now proud to have become one of the UK’s must have wedding florists, winning the UK’s best wedding florist 2013 and the East Midlands Best Wedding Florist 2012 – 2015.

Having had the honour of providing the beautiful blooms for the recent wedding of Olympic swimmer, Rebecca Adlington who married in the Summer in Derbyshire, Kerry is one of the most in demand florists in the country. And quite rightly so. Not only are her flowers incredible but the service a Tineke bride receives is like no other. Based in a cute barn conversion in the heart of the Peak District, Kerry and her close knit team work tirelessly to ensure each and every bride receive not just perfect flowers but a seamless service.

Now in the midst of planning her own wedding which takes place in Italy next Summer, Kerry is very nearly completely booked up for 2015 with a few limited spaces. So, if you’re planning your big day and want to become a Tineke bride, give Kerry a call and she’ll do her best to squeeze you in! “I absolutely adore weddings and am passionate about giving our couples the wedding flowers that they dream of, using the very best quality flowers available and always with amazing customer service and attention to detail” Kerry Wilkinson

When it comes to beauty on your wedding day, you want to feel like the most perfect version of yourself. The ‘look’

you choose on your big day will be replayed to you for years to come and therefore it is vital that you choose a make up artist who understands you and your needs.

Here, we chat with one of the most recognised names in the bridal beauty market, Ali Gunn;

“Looking and feeling fantastic on your wedding day is paramount. Your face will be in the spotlight, and looking your best (but still like yourself) will help you radiate confidence. Having worked on thousands of faces over my 20 years in makeup including celebrities such as Poppy Delevigne and Rebecca Adlington, I truly understand the techniques required to create the perfect bridal makeup. I will work with you to create a beautiful look that captures your personal style and enhances your natural beauty which will last throughout the celebrations right up until the end of the night.

In the age of digital cameras and candid shots, you will feel confident that you will be captured perfectly for memories that will last a lifetime.  And, to look your best every day, you can also learn how to create your flawless look with my one-on-one makeup tutorials, or a makeover for any special event.

I hope to have the pleasure of working with you and making you feel beautiful on your big day.

Here’s what one of my recent brides had to say;  “Ali You got the perfect balance between looking myself and feeling a million dollars. You were such a lovely and calming influence on the day. Booking you was one of the very best decisions I made, you made me feel amazing.”

Carving personalised designs into solid oak creates enduring, heirloom quality pieces that look beyond price but that are

actually within reach thanks to the inventive and creative people behind I Love Oak.

I Love Oak bring out the timeless beauty of figured and oiled oak pieces with messages and designs carved, incised and shaped using some remarkable equipment programmed with designs that are as unique as the real wood they grace.

The process is a simple one. Practically anything that can be visualised in flat carved media can be created either as a unique piece, or as a series of pieces. Whether intricate and

detailed or simple in the extreme, I Love Oak can deliver. For once, the process really is only limited by inspiration.

I Love Oak can advise in terms of the practical limits but has yet to be challenged with any design that it couldn’t turn into memorable reality. So if your occasion demands something that you just won’t find in the shop, something as unique as the event itself, remember I Love Oak. Permanent and personal. Surprisingly affordable too.

During a mid September afternoon armed with props, a great photographer and gorgeous flowers, Tickety Boo Events set

up a styled shoot in the middle of the woods.

The concept of the shoot was to inspire couples who are planning an outdoor wedding, to look at different ideas for styling their own day. Rich autumnal colours, wood, Hessian and plenty of trees allowed this to come to life and were captured by the hugely talented Richard Gardner.

As well as styling the shoot all props and vintage china were supplied by event stylist Tara from Tickety Boo Events. (Also available for hire).Flowers were supplied by the fabulous Emily Wisher who grows her own so that couples can enjoy seasonal fresh flowers. Last but by no means least the fabulous Klara from Birds in the Attic made some lovely doily bunting, mini flags and a ‘little best man’ boutonnière.

A great opportunity to showcase what Tickety Boo can do for your day and also a lovely way to collaborate with other suppliers in the industry.

Big love to:

A typical customer at The British Tailoring Company wants something different, be it a tailored light weight summer suit

for a South African wedding, or a white suit for a winter wonder land wedding. We design and cut the suits to a customer’s exact requirements, no matter what their body shape, or however outrageous their wedding plans. All of our customers have a full design service consultation where we listen to them and understand what they need the suit to do, be it a suit able to be worn just for the wedding with top hat and tails, or a more adaptable suit that can fit in with the overall wedding theme, and be used for work and leisure after. We tailor the cloth selection to suit their budget, and propose realistic design solutions that add value beyond any off the rail or standard suit outlet. Our service is rewarded by our customer retention, once you become a British Tailoring customer, you can phone or email and order to us and your next tailored shirt or suit can be delivered to your front door, without the need to visit the high street, or book another private appointment with your tailor. British cloth is the best in the world, its lineage and quality has been developed over the past 250 years, we only sell clothfrom British mills. Our workshops combine the most advanced tailoring equipment with traditional tailoring skills, all of our suits are hand finished, and made to order with a bespoke pattern made for each customer.

All of your suits are made to order, and therefore each suit is specifically designed and manufactured to the customer’s exact needs. We listen to the customer and understand if their wedding is going to be winter or summer, this dictates the weight of cloth (thicker cloth for winter, lighter cloth for summer), we also try and work within their current wedding theme if there is one by articulating any key colour and features within the suit. We do use a base British cut suit

pattern, this ensures that all of our suits have a tapered waist, soft shoulders and real cuff buttonholes, this is very different to an Italian of American suit which has not tapered waist and broad shoulders and is commonly seen on high street rails.

We are an appointment only service that means that you have the undivided attention and privacy of your tailor, and there are no interruptions. We understand that customers have busy lives and fit our timetable around their with evening and weekend appointments if needed.

We have developed our service and our brand upon a bespoke service with all our garments designed by us and made to order. We have our own pattern block, which is based on the classic British Suit, adding our own touches to it such as the prices back detail, tapered ticket pocket and alternative under collar colour.

Due to demand we are in the process of designing and manufacturing our own range which will include off the rail standard suits, shirts, trousers, sports jackets and overcoats, and expect the final product following trails to be available in mid to late 2015.
