Leanne Tingwell has returned from a short period of LSL and for the last week of term, I will also be on LSL and undertaking a leaders’ study tour to China for 2 weeks. We are definitely noting an improvement so thank you. A reminder also that parents can use the electronic notification form on our website to notify the school of you child’s absence. (Home Page / Notice/Forms tab / Student Absence Notification Form). You can also download a hard copy of the notification form from the website as well. Thank you also for trying to minimize the number of absences your child has, as much as is possible of course. We certainly don’t expect children to come to school sick. What we do appreciate though is for school attendance to be a priority when it comes to thinking about appointments, shopping, sleeping in, having a long weekend etc. A big thank you and well done everyone for your punctuality too. Over the last 12 months, there has been a definite reduction in the number of students arriving late each day. Keep up the good effort as it is really important for children to start the day in an orderly way. Being on time certainly helps children to settle more quickly and get on with their day. 3/4 AREA NO GO ZONE PRIOR NOTICE On the first weekend of the holidays (20/21 Sept) we are having renovation works commencing in our 3/4 area classrooms. Ceilings and eaves will be removed and replaced. Because of the nature of these works, we are advising that the school grounds are to be a NO GO ZONE on both of these weekends. People who walk through the grounds on a weekend are advised to take an alternative route please. Reinstatement of ceilings, electrical fittings etc. will all occur during the holiday period. Our 3/4 classes will be packed up and moved out by the end of Thursday Sept 18th in readiness for the holiday works. STATE SCHOOL SPECTACULAR Forty of our year 5 and 6 students are set for a very busy three days. Today and tomorrow they are attending full day rehearsals at Hicense Arena and on Saturday, along with 3,000 other students from across Victoria, they will perform two shows to parents, friends, relatives and members of a large number of school communities from across the state. Our students are involved in either singing or dance groups and they will no doubt have the experience of a lifetime. The State School Spectacular is a marvelous event, very colorful, energetic and eye-catching. It showcases the amazing creativity and performing arts talent of over 3,000 Victorian primary and secondary students. It well and truly is spectacular! Very special thanks is owed to Loretta Simmonds (Music), Erin Rodgers and Winter Dunstone (5D) for their organization and commitment to this event and for giving up hours of their time for rehearsals and training in preparation for the event. We are fortunate to have teachers so giving of their time. Special thanks also to the parents who have also assisted along the way too, we’re also very grateful for your help. On with the show!!! Glen Katherine PS School Magazine 2014 This year we are planning on having our school magazine printed in full colour. We anticipate that it will be circu-

lated to approximately 350 families in our local community.

This is a great opportunity for local businesses to become business partners in the publication of our magazine.

Your business can take advantage of this networking opportunity by purchasing advertising space in the 2014

school magazine.

The cost of this partnership would be $100 for a business card size advertisement or $150 for ¼ page advertise-

ment.

If you are interested in taking up this offer please fill in the expression of interest form and return to school by

the end of term 3, Friday 19th September.

As we have limited advertising space, please get your expressions of interest in early.

our school Linkletter where occasionally, photographs of students are included. We also use photographs of students in

some school publications (eg School Magazine, Transition booklet, promotional information). Photographs of students can

also be displayed in classrooms, around the school, on noticeboards etc. Photographs can also be found on our intranet and

website. On the school website, there are images of students who may or may not be identified by their first name or class.

We allow parents to record special school activities (eg starting school, school assembly etc.) as this creates a momento that

can be shared with other family members. Video or audio recording is permitted at school under a copyright license paid by

the Department of Education on behalf of all government schools. It is assumed however, that any images or recordings

information or photographs to the press for publication. Unless a story features an individual child, only group photos are

published and students identified by first name and year only.

energy in preparing for this event:
