Really? It’s close on 29 degrees sitting here and there is no sign at all of flocks of autumn leaves spiralling gently through mellow sunshine???? In the Junior School, as across the Arndell Anglican College P-12, we believe that the fullest futurefor our children can best be prepared for by recognising - and holding in daily balance of purposeand intent - their present and future learning needs. We therefore look to equip our children with a cross-seasonal pedagogy and experience of learningthat is -   This is the kind of learning that, rather than lowering sight amidst all the challenge of changingseasons, finds good eyes to see a ‘most excellent way’ forward to a future of individual andcommunity flourishing. And this is the privilege and blessing of our full mission here at Arndell Anglican College JuniorSchool – to look to provide all of our children with daily opportunity to access and to grow in thesight of that quality of learning that the Canadian educator, Michael Fullan says, has uniquecapacity to merge life and learning; A quality of deep learning that that builds character, citizenship and creativity from the experienceof, ‘Quality learning that sticks with you the rest of your life…the kind of learning that engages the world, changes the world. That contributes to the common good and can address global challenges andenable students to flourish in a complex world’ Amen! Every blessing!

Engaging and engaged: The College’s Learning Journey FrameworkTechnologically resourced, intelligent and attuned: iPads individually available for each childand explicitly attached to class learning intentions to extend and enrich possibilities of learning:the opening in 2020 of the Junior School Technology Hub; the Junior School’s connectedapproach to the creative and agile application of technology for PURPOSE.That has relevance to our children’s actually lived lives: a daily experience of DEEPLEARNING that engages with our children’s world; that is full of opportunity for real lifeapplication of learning skills and real-life problem solving (iMaths; Primary Connections:Science).

CORONAVIRUS Psalm 103:4-5He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!  Earlier this year I had the opportunity to go into the city a few times. I must admit the city is not myfavourite place, give me the bush any day! However, as I walked around I noticed a difference, manypeople were wearing masks. It could be for a number of reasons but it was more obvious to me thisyear. The last few months have seen an increase in fear over a particular virus spreading throughoutthe world. Our country is raising awareness and the news is all over it. Again, I find myself reflecting, how do I respond as a Christian? The Old Testament had many laws inplace to deal with hygiene and uncleanness (eg, Leviticus 13). These continue to be good practiceswhich some of the advice given encourages. These practices were to help us love each other andkeep us alive. At the same time, the problems of uncleanness remind us of the sinful world in which we live. Howwe have a broken relationship with the God who made us. One of the key underlining themes of theOld Testament was that we cannot be good enough for God. In fact, it is him alone who can ‘redeemus from death’. So, at a far deeper level the current concerns point us to a God who loves his peopleby taking on the ‘virus’ of humanity himself. With this love, we realise the blessings we have in thislife and can be constantly thankful for them. May God help us to love each other as this viruscontinues to spread. If you have any questions about the Christian faith or chaplaincy at the College, please contact theChaplaincy team.
