Hopetoun P-12 College is a Child Safe School
Today we farewelled our Year 12 students before they begin their SWOTVAC week before exams.
Principal’s Report
Year 12
Today we celebrated the ‘official’ end of schooling for the Year 12 students. Yes, we will be seeing them here in the coming weeks and we will see them again for their graduation in a few weeks’ time and again at Awards Night, however, today was the conclusion of around 13 years of schooling. The chant of “No more lessons, no more books …” is close but not quite reality yet as exams are looming for some of the Year 12s and some may have some work to finish to complete their studies. The next few weeks is an important time for our Year 12s as they strive to achieve their best in their exams. We certainly wish them well and hope most sincerely that they finish their schooling on a positive note.
There will be more thank-you’ s later for this group of exiting students, however, I would like to extend to them a very big thank-you for your contribution to Hopetoun P-12 College. One of the aims of our student leaders was to leave a positive legacy and I am confident that they have done this impressively throughout their time here. One of their challenges has been to lead the school-wide celebration of schooling marked at 40, 120 and 160 days. The photo shows the large ’40 days’ milestone created by all of the students earlier this year. Thanks Shiarne and Kiana.
We have also had the pleasure of Lauren, Bailey, Dallas and Jessie in our Year 12 class this year. Some have been here a long time, some a handful of years. Whatever length of time they have each contributed to school-life in their own positive way. Thank you. All the best to all of our Year 12 students.
School Captains 2020
The student leadership baton was handed over at the Year 12 Celebration Day assembly this morning. The incoming school captain is Tegan Frankel and vice-captain is Flynn Grace. Congratu-lations to both Tegan and Flynn. We are sure you will be positive and active leaders for our school and will leave a memorable legacy for our school from your time in the student leadership role. Well done to both of you and students and staff are looking forward to your leadership. Tegan and Flynn commence in the role from today as a preliminary towards full assumption of duty at the commencement of 2020. Farewell
We farewelled one of the quiet achieving staff members at our assembly today. After a decade of looking after the canteen, Lena Moyle is taking long service leave commencing tomorrow, leading into retirement from the position. Thanks Lena, for all of your work, your cooking, your service and your organisation of the caf. I am sure that the students and staff will miss you and your ‘whiteboard specials’. We hope that you have a pleasant and restful retirement and all the best for the future.
Transition
Transition from Kinder to Prep and from Year 6 to 7 continues this term. We had the Year 6 stu-dents visit yesterday and we have more sessions for Kinder and Year 6 students to attend over the coming months.

SPORTS NEWS
On Monday Jobe, Ben and Billy represented the school at the
Minyip field and game school shot. It is always a challenging day of clay target shooting but the boys enjoyed it nonetheless. Thanks must go to Bruce Landrigan for accompanying the boys for the day.
Next Tuesday is the House summer sports. Student choices have been posted on the front white-board and around the school. Cricket has been withdrawn from the day due to not quite getting enough numbers. Tennis players are encouraged to bring their own racquet if possible, otherwise the school can provide these. Please see Mr Robins if you have any questions.
