The hand of the Almighty Creator is upon us at EDH , when one considers the outputs and over-whelming changes and activities that are rolled out in an integrative and collaborative manner, as it is said in the Christian Bible– “the Fourth Man is indeed amongst the three that were put to burn to death in the fire”. The Hospital is humbled by the achievements, some of which are men-tioned here below:
The Department of Health is in partnership with Health Systems Trust (HST ) and they have introduced a Computerized Patient Record System-VEMR. Edendale Hospital is one of the pi-lot centers. Phase 1 has been initiated with the setting up of a Patient Registration System.

STI, CONDOM & PREGNANCY AWARENESS WEEK STI, CONDOM & PREGNANCY AWARENESS WEEK
On the 10 –16 February 2015 Edendale hospital staff embarked on a Campaign to raise awareness in the hospital. On STI, Condom and pregnancy plus distribution of condoms. The aim of campaign was to inform and educate passing the message across that HIV can be prevented by safe sexual practice. The Edendale staff visited Gateway clinic, MOPD, SOPD, CDC illustrating and educating patients about knowledge of HIV/Aids, STI’s. The mes-sage was clear “ prevention is better then cure”. This day marked very significantly since we managed to accommodate large number of patients and Edendale staff who were willing to lend us an ear to listen. The campaign included bringing to light other sexual practices - i.e. gay and lesbian.
As Edendale hospital we felt the need to embark on action rather than on silence, since the office of the Premiere in KwaZulu Natal Province is concentrating more on prevention of various diseases. We tried by all means to communicate both on communicable and non communicable pandemic diseases and received warm reception and excellent hospitality during our campaign .
