Issue 5 HKA Newsletter November 2019 1 HKA NEWSLETTER Welcome to the final newsletter of 2019!! What a year it has been for HKA! This years final thoughts are coming from our very own chief instructor Carl Denne…… Firstly a huge thank you to all the HKA team, without you HKA wouldn’t be the same!! For myself this year has been a huge learning curve, i’ve spent time on my own personal development …. Which also meant letting go a bit, taking myself out of the gym so I can then grow the HKA family! Over the last year I have been able to expand and take on more staat HKA, an apprentice, PA, new coach’s with various roles around the gym, for me this was a huge step, letting people come on board. For those who know me , know that HKA is my baby so this has not been easy for me, but it’s was a risk worth taking the team is already developing and improving every day, it will allow for HKA to grow and reach out to more people. The classes have seen changes this year too with the cadets and teens being split into two classes beginners and advanced, enabling us to improve skill and the ability to teach better. The fight team have improved hugely this year bringing home 7 titles, with more exciting things around the corner. New HKA products have been released in the USA, taking HKA across the globe!! It’s been an exciting year, now next year will be focussing on using the knowledge and experience gained in 2019 to smash 2020!! Big things coming watch out… Welcome …..

Battle of Kent 2019….

The Battle of Kent is always a big event for HKA to go too seeing many of our younger fighters competing and showing there skills ….. this year was no different. This was the first year Jenny has taken a team by herself to this event , but HKA shone though and Jenny had a huge support team behind her, Jenny’s write up is as follows……Sanjay first up, 2nd round stoppage. The other boy unable to continue as Sanjay was just to over powering. Sanjay was on form, fantastic movement and ring craft, adding lots of spinning kicks, really took control of the fight. Massive well done, as he also fought last weekend. Abigail, great little fight, if only Abi fought every round like she did in the 3rd.This girl getting stronger every time she fights, but unfortunately this time the other girl over powered her. Riley the little machine, this boy is definitely going to be one to watch in the future I promise, his movement was great, he never stopped going forward. It was a fantastic fight and very close, this time going to the other fighter, but so so proud of Riley.Drew was so nervous bless her before she got In the ring, the nerves nearly got the better of her. She sucked it up, got in that ring and used those lovely long legs of hers.I just wish she would believe in herself more, and the ability she has. Drew pushing forwards constantly, pushing those front kicks in and pushing the girl back. Drew took all 3 rounds with a good win. Ellis has had 2 years out of fighting, so the first time stepping in the ring again. Stronger and fitter than ever. Stopped the girl in the first round, the other girl just didn’t want it. Ellis’s power and pressure just too much. Easy win.Last up for the day was Mollie, first round was a little bit slow, Mollie in control though, 2nd round mollie came out of the corner and boom!! Listened to everything I said in the corner and went in and smashed the last 2 rounds. Great strong win!!

Training for: 2 1/2 Years.

Fights: 5 Fights 1 win, 4 Losses.

Hi Im Abigail , my mum found HKA for me when I was play fighting with my brother. I had my first fight when I was 8. Iv Been going for 2 1/2 years. My first fight was nerve wrecking and exciting for me and my family. Then I had my second fight when I was 8 or 9 a few weeks after my first fight and it was even more nerve wracking than my first fight, but I became good friends with the girl I fought, her name is Cleo. Then I had my third fight when I was 9 and that was when I fought against Shannon and I fought her in my forth fight. I have just had my fifth fight and I won !!! It was the best feeling in the world. Iv been having some PT’s with Ellis to help with my confidence for my fight coming up. The best thing about fighting is that you and your family are proud of you. So now I’m part of the HKA family!!!!
