It is my great pleasure to share this special edition with you during Amadeus’ worldwide celebrations of its 25th anniversary.
Over the last quarter of a century, Amadeus offered quality primary products, solutions and services to its customers on both levels, IT solutions for the airlines and a global distribution system for the travel agencies. So we celebrated the success that we have achieved and are proud today to be the number one as an IT technology provider in the airline industry.
The history of the Travel Industry indicates very clearly that there is a host of successful bodies that managed to exploit the waves of change that they had to face. Amadeus is one of them! Amadeus has used the initiative to adapt quickly to the unprecedented circumstances in the airline industry, thus generating growth and new business. The proliferation of the internet and the growing acceptance of different business models in the airline industry, the development of new economies and the turbulence of some existing ones; all these helped in drastically changing the travel and tourism industry. But in this constantly changing world, it is good to see that some important things do stay the same:

For us in Amadeus, we experienced 25 inspiring years behind us. The next 25 years will bring with it so many challenges where we are sure that simple solutions will be definitely defied. We are certain that Amadeus will be there playing a leadership role in devising and delivering solutions that benefit not only the travel industry but our customers, our economy and our population as a whole.
Finally, it is worth to say that we have all done a great job, mainly because of you and your confidence in Amadeus and the team supporting you.
We look forward for more and more celebrations of more success to come.

Amadeus 25th Anniversary
The travel industry has evolved significantly in th e quarter century since Amadeus was born. But in the technology sector light years have elapsed - in 1987 Sir Tim Berners-Lee hadn’t even written his proposal for the World Wide Web and Mark Zuckerberg was three years old.
Amadeus has changed a lot but if there has been a c ommon thread in our evolution then it is our continued investment in innovation and excellence. Just since 2004 we have invested around two billion Euros in research & development and open so urce software is at the forefront of all our effort s.
This investment in R&D has brought us many successe s in the past. An example of this is the creation of the community model for our travel IT s ystems. 100 of the world’s leading airlines have become users of the Altéa platform and we project t hat it will see 735 million passengers boarded in 2014.
Amadeus now processes almost one billion travel tra nsactions each year and has over 10,000 staff in 195 markets around the world. We have unrivalled co ntent in our global distribution system and 38% of travel agency air bookings globally are made via our system.
We would like to thank all of our fellow travelers on the Amadeus journey over the last 25 years, including customers, staff, suppliers, and investor s. Without your partnership and commitment none of this would have been possible.
We look forward to a future where by working togeth er we can improve the travel experience more than we ever imagined possible.
