TITLE: A350 Thrust Reverser Sling PN: 351-3000-6GSE operation limitations

BACKGROUND: The TR Sling GSE was incorrectly loaded at Dedienne Singapore (supplier) during annual load test causing permanent deformation of the tube detail. GSE Tool was then returned to operator where tube detail fractured during installation/application.

OBJECTIVE: This EB aims to Inform about new operational limitations for the Thrust Reverser Sling Ground Support Equipment tool Part number 351-3000-6GSE following a recent finding in the field

CONTENT:

Collins recommends the following limitations for use of the TR Sling PN: 351-3000-6GSE :

• Recommend restricting use to indoor environments or,

• Limit outdoor use to less than 15 knot cross wind conditions

• No towing allowed.

• Perform dimensional inspections checks pre and post use tool usage to ensure the parts are

within specification. Contact Dedienne Aerospace if parts are not within the dimensions. DO

NOT USE THE TOOL. See Figure 2 of Collins AOL-A350-022 for dimension check details.

• Perform visual inspection (10x) of suspected areas for cracks/elongation. Contact tooling

department for reporting to Dedienne Aerospace if cracks are found. DO NOT USE THE

TOOL. See Figure 3 of Collins AOL-A350-022 .

Refer to Collins AOL-A350-022 for more details.

All 351-3000-6GSE Tools produced by Dedienne aerospace are subject to the new limitations. Background The TR Sling GSE was incorrectly loaded at Dedienne Singapore (supplier) during annual load test causing permanent deformation of the tube detail. GSE Tool was then returned to operator where tube detail fractured during installation/application. The fracture did not cause any injury to personnel or aircraft part. Discussion The subsequent investigation discovered that tool was manufactured from a weaker material than what was specified per Collins engineering. Collins proof load test was unable to detect the insufficient substitution due to the lack of dimensional verification of the parts post testing. Based on internal Chief Engineer reviews, Collins recommends the following limitations for use of the TR Sling GSE: a) Recommend restricting use to indoor environments or, b) Limit outdoor use to less than 15 knot cross wind conditions c) No towing allowed. d) Perform dimensional inspections checks pre and post use tool usage to ensure the parts are within specification. Contact Dedienne Aerospace if parts are not within the dimensions. DO NOT USE THE TOOL. See Figure 2 for dimension check details. e) Perform visual inspection (10x) of suspected areas for cracks/elongation. Contact Dedienne Aerospace if cracks are found. DO NOT USE THE TOOL. See Figure 3.

Recommended Operator Action

Immediate action: inspect/measure the two (2) 351-3000_6GSE_C_ASSY-401 tool details per the dimensions in Figure 2 below. If tool details are out of tolerance, DO NOT USE THE TOOL and contact Dedienne Aerospace for further instructions.

Prior to using the tool and before returning the tool to the storage box, conduct the following dimensional check of the two (2) tool details 351-3000_6GSE_C_ASSY-401. If tool details are out of tolerance, DO NOT USE THE TOOL and contact Dedienne Aerospace for further instructions.

Observe the limitations spelled out in the paragraph above.

May 2020 UPDATE: Collins Aerospace has now released new engineering for the redesign of the tool and is currently working with Airbus on validating and verifying the new tool.
