Chhath Pooja : October 29, 2014

“countrymen trusted me on the matter of blackmoney, still I wished to repeat my aim thatwhatever money had illegally gone abroad fromIndia should return.”

-Narendra Modi

Chhath Puja is an ancientHindu festival and only VedicFestival dedicated to the Sun God,Surya. Chhath Puja is performed onKartika Shukla Shashthi, which isthe sixth day of the month of Kartikain the Hindu Calendar. This fallstypically in the month of October orNovember in the GregorianCalendar.

The Chhath Puja is performedin order to thank Surya forsustaining life on earth and torequest the granting of certainwishes. The Sun, considered the godof energy and of the life-force, isworshipped during the Chhathfestival to promote well-being, prosperity and progress. In Hinduism, Sun worship is believed to helpcure a variety of diseases, including leprosy, and helps ensure the longevity and prosperity of familymembers, friends, and elders.

The rituals of the festival are rigorous and are observed over a period of four days. They includeholy bathing, fasting and abstaining from drinking water (Vratta), standing in water for long periodsof time, and offering prashad (prayer offerings) and arghya to the setting and rising sun.

Although it is observed most elaborately in Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern UP and the Terai regionsof Nepal in modern times, and is more prevalent in areas where migrants from those areas have apresence, it is celebrated in all regions and major urban centers in India.

Chhath is a festival of bathing and worshipping, that follows a period of abstinence and segregationof the worshipper from the main household for four days. During this period, the worshipper observespurity, and sleeps on the floor on a single blanket. This is the only holy festival which has noinvolvement of any pandit (priest).

rial..

.It is the wish of the BJP National President to make Bharatiya Janata Party number

one in the world in terms of its membership. At present China has the number onepolitical party in terms of membership. Congratulations to BJP President for such

an approach. Such approach of the party president inspires everyone to work. For last two decades people have become indifferent towards politics. Negativity

has grown in people. The sentiment that “we are not concerned” has increased. Suchkind of sentiment is not good for democracy. Democracy will get weakened by thisapproach and in the last two decades India has been weakened due to indifference ofpeople.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi created ahistory. He made efforts tirelessly to break the political negativity and indifference inthe people. He was successful to certain extent and this is the reason that people gavefull majority to BJP.

This is the reason that Amit Shah has decided to connect the mood of the peoplewith the party. There are many political parties in the country but if we look at them, most of them are confined within the boundaries of certain families. We may leave CPIand CPM as exceptions. But the condition of both these parties is also very miserableand people say that both these parties are counting their last breath. Here is a party BJPwhich conducts membership drive every six year and elections are held from the postof national president to mandal president every three year. So far Congress is concerned, its existence cannot be imagined without Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. For Congress,Sonia ji and Rahul ji are working as ventilators. The reality is that the Congress willbe finished without Sonia ji and Rahul ji.

While membership drive has started with full vigour, it has to be noted that strongdemocracy in the party has to be further strengthened. Discussion and dialogue in anyparty makes its internal democracy strong. In parties internal discussions shouldalways exist. Except BJP, discussions are almost nil in other political parties.

In parties independent discussions-dialogue-talks should continuously take place.People’s organizations should always discuss with the people also. The attempt toconfine democracy in the last ten-fifteen years is dangerous.

The shape and form of BJP is expanding. While the acceptance of Narendra Modiis increasing among the people, the acceptability of BJP is expanding. The BJP NationalPresident Amit Shah has understood this mood. This is the reason that he has fixed thetarget so that people may say that Bharatiya Janata Party is the party with largestmembership in the world.

Everyone should join in this sacred work. BJP has given an opportunity to thecountrymen to dial a number from their mobile and get membership. “Online is free”.It is a big decision. The manner in which Amit Shah by remaining in the backgroundis making BJP move ahead step by step in different states is praiseworthy.

BJP National President Amit Shah will have to take one more praiseworthy step.Along with membership, to get the members connected ideologically he will have tomake historic efforts to help party literature and ideology reach village to village. If BJPis successful in doing this then BJP will not be foremost in the membership alone butideologically also it will become number one in the world.

Initiative in the direction of makingBJP number one in the world

Encouraging peopleto be a part of politics, he saidthat BJP is a party of the diversity.“Contrary to popular belief, politics is not tainted. If it wasbad, Mahatma Gandhi wouldnever have been a part of it,” hesaid.

He told the party cadres notto bother about other parties, contending that BJP has alreadytaken a big lead. “Put youreverything into it...Like you doduring an election campaign...It(the drive) should become aninspiration for parties across theworld,” the Prime Minister toldthe BJP cadres.

Throwing light on how thepolitics has changed in therecent times he said that “Nationexpects political parties, workers, leaders to play an important role.Indian politics has changed. Now people expect parties toplay significant role in public

The Prime Minister said thatfor the development of the party, its horizontal as well as verticalgrowth is essential and calledupon partymen not to leave asingle village unrepresented.

Terming BJP as an importantdemocratic organ across theworld, he said the party shouldaspire to be an inspiration for allpolitical parties globally andsaid it never positioned itself likea force to reckon with in thedemocratic order. “BJP is one ofthe most importantorganizations in the world. Yetwe have never positioned it like

The world is increasinglymoving towards a morestructured and organized

struggle against illegal moneyparked in tax havens or evenotherwise transacted at foreignsoil. Originally the tax havenswere completely non-cooperative. However, international pressure hascompelled some of them to relaxthe rigidity against non-disclosure.

Almost all countries whichentered into Double TaxationAvoidance Treaties or have adomestic legislation, as in thecase of US, that has an extra-territorial application insist thatinformation parted to thereceiving State would besubjected to confidentialityclauses. The confidentialityclauses make it incumbent thatdisclosure would be made onlyafter prosecution is filed before acharging court. Thus the issue isnot whether but when disclosurecan be made. The debate is notbetween disclosure and non-disclosure of confidentialinformation. It is betweenunauthorized disclosure inviolation of tax treaties anddisclosure as per tax treaties. Anunauthorised disclosure inviolation of tax treaties entailsthat the disclosure is made forcollateral purposes. It is usuallynot accompanied by anyevidence or proof. But when adisclosure is made in pursuance

of a charge sheet in a court oflaw where a criminalprosecution is filed, it wouldcertainly be a disclosuresubstantiated by adequate proofand evidence.

A disclosure in violation oftax treaties helps the accountholder. The reciprocating statewould treat this as a violation ofa tax treaty and refuse to provide

any evidence in support of theunauthorized account. Theholder of the unauthorisedaccount in the absence of anyproof and confirmation from thereciprocating State would get thebenefit in any investigation orprosecution and then claim that“I stand vindicated”. In fact, apre-mature disclosure wouldadditionally alert the accountholder to prepare somedocumentation or a shamdefence. It may even enable himto destroy evidence.

India has to take a consciouscall. Does it want to be a part of

the global coalition which ismoving in the direction ofautomatic sharing of informationor not? Does it ensure allinformation is supported bysubstantial evidence and proofor only wishes to remainrestricted to sloganeering? In therecent meeting of about 50countries in Berlin whichproposed automatic sharing of

information, India could notparticipate since a prevalentview is that confidentialityclauses are unconstitutional inIndian law. This view requiresreconsideration. An automaticexchange of information wouldrelate both to authorized andunauthorised movement ofmoney. Why should anyinformation with regard toauthorized movement of moneybe made public? Why shouldinformation even in relation ofunauthorized movement ofmoney be made public only forpolitical or collateral purposes?

Confidentiality clauses and the battle fortracing black money outside India

A disclosure in violation of tax treaties helps theaccount holder. The reciprocating state would treat

Why should the account holderbe alerted in advance? It shouldbe put to an authorized use withcollection of evidence and filingof prosecution.

The United States haslegislated the Foreign AccountTax Compliance Act, 2010(FATCA). The FATCA containsa confidentiality clause. It makesit mandatory for foreign financialinstitutions (FFIs) to register withthe appropriate authority andexchange information. Theforeign financial institutions arerequired to enter into agreementwith the US Internal RevenueService. Alternatively foreigngovernments can signagreements with US government.Mandatory exchange ofinformation subject toconfidentiality clause beingnecessary. FATCA mandates thededuction and withholding oftax equal to 30% on a US source

payment to recalcitrant FIIs orFFIs in non compliant countrieswhich do not meet with therequirements of FATCA. Such30% withholding will also beimposed by other FATCAcompliant countries against noncompliant countries.Theconsequences of not signing thethe agreement with US underFATCA would be disastrous.Itwill negate the efforts being

undertaken by our governmentto revive the Indian economy. The Reserve Bank of India hasalready informed theGovernment of India about theserious and adverse

consequences of non-complianceof FATCA by India. Severalcountries have alreadysubscribed to FATCA.

An unauthorised disclosureof information is fraught withboth investigation and economic

consequences. They cansabotage the investigation. Theycan attract sanctions in the formof withholding taxes. It isobvious that in a choice betweenunauthorised disclosure anddisclosure as per treaties, thelatter is both a fair and beneficialproposition. It will help incollection of evidence andexposure of a wrong doing inaccordance with law and fair

procedure. A disclosure withoutevidence would ensure thatevidence is never available.

Notwithstanding its clarity, why should someone withadequate understanding of the

subject, demand a disclosure inviolation of the treaty. TheCongress Party’s stand isunderstandable. It does not wantevidence to be forthcoming insupport of the names availablewith SIT. Are some others illinformed, just indulging inbravado or are they Trojanhorses? I am sure the SIT whichhas been entrusted by theSupreme Court with theinvestigation, will succeed inbringing out the truth whilerealising the full implications ofthe subject matter.

The NDA Government hashad an exemplary record in thismatter. The first decision of itsCabinet Meeting was to acceptthe Supreme Court direction inconstituting the SIT. It hascomplied with every decision ofthe SIT. It made available all thenames in its possession to theSIT on 27th June, 2014 itself. Itwill continue to support the SITfully and unequivocally insearch of truth.

Pakistan should draw a redline whether it wants totalk to government of India

As the Government ofWest Bengal is seencompromising security,

the question for Union Ministerfor Home Affairs Rajnath Singhis: How far will he tolerate thealarmingly rising threat tosecurity in the entire region?

The trail of Burdwan blastlooks like enveloping theTrinamool Congress like apython’s grip and squeezing theruling coterie in West Bengal.Three weeks ago, a house ownedby the West Bengal ruling partyleader was rocked by a blast of abomb in the making.

When the State policesearched the place, a bomb inthe making and a few othercrumbs were all that were found. The persons who rented thathouse happened to be fromBangladesh, and what they weredoing in that house got the mediasmelling around. Resultantly, more suspicious have cometumbling out.

The ruling party thereseemed to be obfuscating issuesand preventing a full-scale probeinto the premises. The mediarevelations made it imperativethat the Central agency dealingwith terrorism, the NationalInvestigation Agency, take overthe probe.

Instead of welcoming sucha move, the State’s Chief Ministerand the TMC supremo sought toplace all sorts of hurdles, quotingthe Constitution and the law toprevent such intervention of alegal authority. The Centre hadto act with your leave if possible,

without it if necessary. The latteralternative got a NationalSecurity Guard contingent toenter the blast house.

What the NSG, led to the spotby a local boy, found was notonly beyond description; it wasa damning evidence of a long-standing Trinamool closing ofthe eye to jihadis making use ofthe TMC’s minoritymagnanimity to turn the placeinto a virtual factory to makebombs, grenades and other items, with some of them alreadydispatched to Bangladesh. Dayby day the NIA probe exposedmore and more the links to a hostof jihadi elements both here andin the neighbouring nation.

That only confirmed what

the Intelligence Bureau had toldthe Union Government, whichNew Delhi duly conveyed toDhaka: The Islamic orthodoxyin Bangladesh under theleadership of Jamaat-e-Islamiwas teaming up with someelements in that country’s Armyto stage a military coupe to topplePrime Minister Sheikh Hasina’sGovernment and install a pro-jihadi regime.

The India part of theconspiracy was to light bombfires across this country and tryto seize and hold as hostage anIndian leader of great politicalvalue. In Bangladesh, pro-Jamaat leaders who hadcollaborated with the PakistaniArmy to terrorise and suppressBangladeshi leaders in 1970 hadall been put behind bars and thetrial courts had given deathsentences to many of them —though an appeal got them to alesser sentence of life-terms.

The liberal elementssupporting the HasinaGovernment had got her to returnthe Constitution to its primalcommitment to equality of allreligions, had begundemonstrations against thisreduction in the sentence onthese jihadi leaders. Thewarning to the DhakaGovernment from New Delhiwas timely in this context.

But what happened inBurdwan focuses equally ormore on the TMC’s role in theentire affair. The very firstquestion that arises is: Why wasthe TMC Government trying to

Making Bengal the den of jihadi terrorBy Balbir Punj

As the Government of WestBengal is seen compromisingsecurity, the question for UnionMinister for Home AffairsRajnath Singh is: How far willhe tolerate the alarminglyrising threat to security in theentire region? The trail ofBurdwan blast looks likeenveloping the TrinamoolCongress like a python’s gripand squeezing the rulingcoterie in West Bengal. Threeweeks ago, a house owned bythe West Bengal ruling partyleader was rocked by a blast ofa bomb in the making.

block the NIA investigation intothe Burdwan blast? The vastamount of bombs, grenades andother items discovered by theNSG team in the very house thatthe State police had searched theprevious day and did not findthis incendiary treasure, isenough of an evidence toquestion the desultory nature ofthe State police’s search.

Normally this discrepancybetween what the State policefound and the NSG acting onbehalf of NIA found at the same

spot later could also be attributedto the State police’s inefficiency. But the fact that the TMCGovernment sought to block theNIA from getting into this searchshifts the finger of suspicion tothe TMC’s own role in it.

More evidence has sincecome in. In another location in aGovernment land just outside thedistrict headquarters of Birbhum, the NIA has found a terroristtraining centre run by the jihadis. After the Burdwan blastoffOctober 2, all the occupantsexcept one ‘disappeared’.

From these houses, the NIAhad seized computers, datacards, and documents related tojihadi teachings. The NIA hasrevealed that the land thatbelonged to the Government andhad been given to tribals, hadbeen illegally ‘sold’ to the three

jihadi trainers, out of whom onlyone could be apprehended by theagency.

From the Burdwan house tothe Birbhum land, everywhere, where the jihadis were trainingpersonnel, making bombs andstoring them, there is a chain ofconnections with the TMC.

To be fair to the TMC andChief Minister Mamata Banerjee,it is possible that all these house-owners and others in her partyinvolved may not have come toher notice at all. And that the

Islamist terror groups whomisused these areas had got theirreal purpose in renting/buyingthese properties, hidden from theactual owners and the TMCcadres.

But this fig leaf falls to theground when we examine thevirulence with which the ChiefMinister wanted to keep the NIAand the Union Government outof the probe. Considering MsBanerjee’s role leading themovement against the Left Frontregime — which itself was softon the Islamist terror groups —and the Muslim orthodox clerics, she should have welcomed theNIA probe.

The TMC cadres are seeninvolved in facilitating terroristsactivities. One does not knowhow many more Burdwan-likeevents are flourishing in West

Bengal. We know that theIslamist and Muslim orthodoxgroups have shifted loyalty to theTMC ever since Ms Banerjee’sascendence in West Bengalpolitics.

These events are indicatorsof the jihadi elements getting anupper hand in West Bengalpolitics, first with the Left Frontand now with the TMC. Forgetabout the packaging and labels, the hard reality is all the‘secular’ parties end upencouraging radical Islam intheir relentless pursuit of Muslimvotes.

Among events that stronglysupport these observations werethe riots that shook Kolkataduring the Left Front regime onthe issue of some waste paperpackages unloaded from a shipcontaining torn pages from theholy book of Islam. The mostdamning evidence of terror linksis the finding of the policeinvestigations into the Saradhachit fund scam.

The Sheikh HasinaGovernment has beencooperating with New Delhi intracking down jihadi elementsseeking refuge in her country. Itsgesture of capturing andreturning to India of many of theterror leaders from India, hidingin Bangladesh, is a shiningexample of a joint effort to curbterrorism.

But as the Government ofWest Bengal is seencompromising security, thequestion for Union Minister forHome Affairs Rajnath Singh is:How far will he tolerate thealarmingly rising threat tosecurity in the entire region?

The Narendra ModiGovernment’s decision toobserve October 31, the

birth anniversary of SardarVallabhbhai Patel, as RashtriyaEkta Diwas (National Unity Day)and to mount a nationwidecampaign to acquaint thecountry’s 1.3 billion citizens ofthe extraordinary achievementsof this great son of India, will behailed by all patriotic citizens.

This is the first major steptaken by a Union Governmentover the last six decades to accordSardar Patel, who wasinstrumental in securing theaccession of 554 princely Statesinto the Indian Union and forthe unification of the country, hisrightful place in the pantheon ofnational leaders.

Apart from being a leadinglight in the freedom movement,Sardar Patel played a critical roleduring the most sensitive, nascent phase in independentIndia’s history. As the country’sfirst Deputy Prime Minister andHome Minister, he had to grapplewith the bloody riots and theinflux of millions of refugees inthe horrendous aftermath of thepartition; play a key role in thedrafting of the country’sConstitution; and, moreimportantly, unite a nation, which stood splintered into 554

parts. The last named task — theunification of India — was anextraordinary achievementwhich only a man with foresight, determination and true grit couldhave achieved. Therefore, but forSardar Patel’s iron will anddoordrishti, the political map of

India which we are all so usedto, would never have existed.Instead, India would have beena truncated nation with manysecessionist time bombs tickingaway in different regions.

In brief, here is what theSardar did: Following thedeparture of the British, allprincely States had the option toeither accede to India or Pakistanor remain independent. In otherwords, a united India wouldemerge only if all the Statesbelow the Pakistan borderacceded to India. If any chose toalign with Pakistan or remainindependent, a united Indiawould be an impossibility. Also,if States deep within the Indianheartland decided to accede toPakistan (as desired byHyderabad State in the south),India’s unity and integritywould be in peril, and in future, these States would have posed amajor threat to national securityand provided Pakistan multiplebases for cross-border terrorism. Finally, India’s map would havelooked jagged with several mini-Pakistans blotting thelandscape. The unification ofIndia was therefore paramountand Lord Louis Mountbatten, the Governor-General,concluded that there was justone man — Sardar Patel — who

The usual suspects have already begun to grumble over the Modi Government’sdecision to observe Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary as National Unity Day.

The Iron Man of India deserved this honour decades ago

Apart from being a leading lightin the freedom movement,Sardar Patel played a criticalrole during the most sensitive, nascent phase in independentIndia’s history. As thecountry’s first Deputy PrimeMinister and Home Minister,he had to grapple with thebloody riots and the influx ofmillions of refugees in thehorrendous aftermath of thepartition; play a key role in thedrafting of the country’sConstitution; and, moreimportantly, unite a nation, which stood splintered into 554parts. had the courage, tenacity andingenuity to undertake thisresponsibility. Sardar Patel wasentrusted the task and in a brieftime he achieved the country’sunification by coaxing, cajolingand, at times, bamboozling, somereluctant princes; he got 554 ofthem to sign on the dotted line. This included the State ofHyderabad which was ruled bythe Nizam.

The Nizam was keen toaccede to Pakistan and SardarPatel made every effort to get himto join India. When the Nizamoffered resistance and evenencouraged communal violenceagainst his Hindu subjects, theSardar asked the Indian Army tomarch in and capture the State.Jawaharlal Nehru foolishlywanted Hyderabad to take itsown decision and was opposedto its forceful integration. ButSardar Patel was absolutely clearin his mind that Hyderabad Statecould not be outside the IndianUnion. He is reported to havesaid that he “did not want anundigested lump in India’sbelly”. But, for his foresight,India would have had aPakistani enclave in her belly. One can well imagine itsconsequences!

The Sardar also brushedaside Nehru’s objections andflew in troops to Srinagar in thenick of time to save whatever isleft of the State of Jammu &Kashmir. But for his firm resolveand quick action, Pakistanitroops, which were on theoutskirts of Srinagar, wouldhave overrun the remainingparts of the state. Similarly, hisdecisiveness enabled theintegration of Junagadh and afew other States on the western

coast into the Indian Union.A fact that is hidden from

the public by Nehruvianhistorians is that, of the 554 Statesthat had to be integrated, Nehrugave Sardar Patel theresponsibility to integrate 553,which the Iron Manaccomplished with ruthlessprecision. Nehru kept theresponsibility of integration ofJammu & Kashmir with himself. We all know the price that Indiais paying for this decision.

Yet, the man whoconstructed the India of ourdreams and who was literallythe builder of the nation, wasnever accorded the exalted statusthat he deserved. Starting withthe days of Nehru, this familyensured that no national leader— be it Sardar Patel, NetajiSubhas Chandra Bose or BRAmbedkar — were given his due, lest it diminish the image ofNehru and some lesser mortalsthrust on the nation by fate orpolitical circumstances. As aresult, Sardar Patel’s incrediblecontribution towards theunification of a nation literallyin tatters after the British madetheir exit on August 15, 1947, hasnever been highlighted. Thisdespicable plan to wipe SardarPatel out of the nationalconsciousness was abetted byhistorians and media personswho were patronised by theNehru-Gandhis. Egged on by thePrime Ministers from this family,

these phonies who belonged tothe Nehruvian or Marxistschools, not only hid the truthabout the Sardar’s phenomenalcontribution, but also tried totarnish his secular, democraticimage and paint him as a Hinducommunalist.

On the other hand, Nehruwas painted as a great democrat. But the truth about his ‘election’as the first Prime Minister wasnever told. Prime MinisterNarendra Modi’s observationlast year that India’s historywould have been different ifSardar Patel had become India’sfirst Prime Minister, is notwithout basis. In 1946, when theCongress had to elect the partypresident/ Prime Minister, 12 ofthe 15 Pradesh CongressCommittees proposed SardarPatel’s name. The remainingthree committees did notnominate anybody. However,Nehru, the ‘great democrat’, wasunwilling to accept the verdictand told Mahatma Gandhi thathe would not be number two toanybody. Mahatma Gandhithen persuaded Sardar Patel towithdraw his nomination andensure the ‘unanimous’ electionof Nehru as Congress presidentand Prime Minister-in-waiting!In other words, the Sardarcombined magnanimity withtoughness.

These are just a few of thereasons why the ModiGovernment’s initiative must bewelcomed. Although SardarPatel is getting the recognitiondue to him, 60 years too late, itcan no longer be said that we arean ungrateful nation, at leastwith regard to Sardar Patel.

Benefits of YogaPractice

Life today is full of stress andstrain, of tension and nervousirritability, of passion and hurry. If man puts into practice a few ofthe elementary principles ofYoga, he would be far betterequipped to cope with hiscomplex existence.

Yoga brings in perfection, peace and lasting happiness. You can have calmness of mindat all times by the practice ofYoga. You can have restfulsleep. You can have increasedenergy, vigour, vitality, longevity and a high standardof health. You can turn outefficient work within a shortspace of time. You can havesuccess in every walk of life.Yoga will infuse in you newstrength, confidence and self-reliance. The body and mindwill be at your beck and call.

Yoga brings your emotionsunder control. It increases yourpower of concentration at work.Yoga discipline gives poise andtranquillity and miraculouslyrebuilds one’s life. The Yoga wayof life deepens man’sunderstanding and enables himto know God and hisrelationship with Him.

Yoga leads from ignoranceto wisdom, from weakness tostrength, from disharmony toharmony, from hatred to love, from want to fullness, fromlimitation to infinitude, from

diversity to unity, and fromimperfection to perfection. Yogagives hope to the sad and forlorn, strength to the weak, health tothe sick and wisdom to theignorant.

Through Yogic discipline, mind, body and the organ of

speech work togetherharmoniously. For a Yogapractitioner, a new outlook, anew health, a new awarenessand a new philosophy rush inand vividly transform his life.

Lust for power, materialgreed, sensual excitement, selfishness, passion for wealthand lower appetites have drawnman from his true life in the spiritinto the materialistic life. He canregain his lost divine glory if hepractices, in right earnest, theprinciples of Yoga. Yogatransmutes animal nature into

divine nature and raises him tothe pinnacle of divine glory andsplendour.Beware of Siddhis

If a Yogi is not careful, if aYogi is not well-established inthe preliminary practices ofYama and Niyama, he isunconsciously swept away fromhis ideal by temptation—Maraor Satan. He uses his powers forselfish ends and suffers ahopeless downfall. His intellectbecomes blind, perverted andintoxicated. His understandinggets clouded. He is no longer adivine Yogi. He becomes ablack-magician or Yogiccharlatan. He is a black sheepwithin the fold of Yogis. He is amenace to the society at large.

Many people are attractedto the practice of Pranayamaand other Yogic exercises, as itis through Yoga that psychichealing, telepathy, though-transference and other greatSiddhis are obtained. But Yogais not for attaining Siddhis orpowers. If a Yogic student istempted to attain Siddhis, hisfurther progress is seriouslyretarded. He has lost the way.

Do not stop Sadhana whenyou get a few glimpses andexperiences. Continue thepractice till you attain perfection.Do not stop the exercise andmove about in the world.Examples are not lacking.Numerous persons have beenruined. A glimpse cannot giveyou safety. The Yogi who is bentupon getting the highestSamadhi must reject Siddhiswhenever they come. Siddhis areinvitations from Devatas. Onlyby rejecting these Siddhis can oneattain success in Yoga.
